Program location
This internship will take place at one of our North American plant locations. Many of our internships take place at our Ohio-based plant locations with potential opportunities for the internship to take place in our plants located in Iowa, Tennessee, Oklahoma, or Massachusetts.
These sites produce a full line of appliances including refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, and KitchenAid portables.

Minimum requirements
Intern project assignments are focused on our World Class Manufacturing methodology and could be in areas such as:
* Lead automation projects related to process control, quality control, safety systems and vision systems
* Design, develop, review and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials taking into account customers, product performance, cost and quality requirements
* Manage equipment / resource relocation projects which could include: redesign of current equipment or resources, working with suppliers to identify new equipment options and leading change management with impacted team members
* Focus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant including: standardized work audits, Improving first pass yield and throughput, etc.
* Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to project(s)
Minimum requirements
* Pursuing bachelors degree with major in: Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field
* Pursuing a bachelor's degree with plans to graduate before or by May 2028
* Current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
* Must have indefinite US work authorization. Applicants who require visa sponsorship or work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for this program.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
* Prepare layout drawings and assemblies, dimensional analysis, review mechanical components for functional compatibility and perform product performance calculations as necessary to support engineers working on design projects.
* Create new and maintain old Bills of Material structure
* Design new and/or modified products using CAD equipment and software.
* Communicate well with all personnel inside and outside the company structure including Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales
& Marketing, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Suppliers, Customers and other personnel.
* Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences
to complete drawings.
* Provide technical assistance to Engineering and all other departments as needed or assigned.
* Collaborate with manufacturing in the solution of manufacturing, inspection, assembly and testing problems. Collaboration with marketing and applications engineering with respect to customer concerns or requirements.
* Investigate product improvement opportunities and shortcomings discovered through testing or field performance data. Develop solutions and or improvements.
* Work in lab to build appropriate test apparatus to verify product design
* Run product verification tests in lab as necessary
* Some travel required for customer and supplier liaison activity.

* Thorough understanding of all metallurgical aspects of Iron-base alloys, Stainless steels, Ni, Co, Ti Al and composite materials.
* Knowledge and acumen within raw material processing of metallics, ceramics and composites, additive manufacturing of materials including stainless steels Aluminum, Ni-base superalloys and non-metallics.
