What you bring to the table
The Dryer Operator ensures that liquid intermediate product is spray dried, meeting all specifications set on the finished product, and following all Safety, Quality and Food Safety procedures of the company. The Dryer Operator is in charge of managing and monitoring up to 3 spray drying equipment. The position reports directly to the Supervisor, but may also receive direction from Superintendent or other management personnel as required. This position is 6 PM - 6 AM on a rotational schedule.
What you'll do as a Dryer Operator
The drying of food products requires flexibility on the part of all personnel as operations change depending upon the needs of the customer. This will require a Dryer Operator to train and work in other departments on a periodic basis in order to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner.
* Understand and follow safety, GMP, food safety, and other rules or policies.
* Perform sanitation on equipment, infrastructure, grounds, and other assigned areas.
* Monitor quality assurance controls during the production process. For example, product analysis, and code date verifications are performed on a routine basis to ensure the customer receives a quality product. Record and maintain accurate written and electronic information.
* Operate packing line safely and efficiently.
* Inspect dryer infrastructure, monitor dryer equipment and notify management when maintenance is required.
* Assist in trouble-shooting of equipment and process problems.
* Notify Supervisor of equipment failures and when major process problems or variations in the process are detected.
* Communicate and interact with other employees and management personnel in a respectful and effective manner.
* Learn all equipment in Drying. Cover shifts as scheduled.
* Train and work in other departments in the facility as needed. This may include, cleaning, and filling in for various absences throughout the facility. Work is assigned depending upon operational needs.

The primary objective of the plant Office & HR Administrator is to ensure that all administrative needs within the Cedar Rapids Red Star Yeast (RSYC) and Lesaffre Blending (LBF) facilities are met; to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the office; and to provide direct administrative support to the plant HR, Plant Manager, and other department managers. The HR & Office Administrator reports directly to the plant HR Business Partner.

Primary Duties
* Promotes, leads, and adheres to a culture of safety awareness and engagement in compliance with the company's safety policies.

Primary Duties
* Coordinate and lead Laboratory activities. To include:
* Reviewing data

* Ensuring clearances are completed in a timely manner
* Special Testing
* Create and manage the laboratory training program. This includes:

* Coordinating PT testing completion (annual, bi-annual & new-hire)

* Responsible for proper use and maintenance of lab equipment and supplies including: analytical balance, centrifuge, mixer, drying oven, pH meter, color meter, stir plate, lab ware, Risograph, spectrophotometer, distillation unit, mineralization units, fume hood, chemicals, incubator, water bath, thermometers, titrators, and Elementar.
* Prepares chemical solutions for processing area.
* Ensures that processing area is stocked with supply of needed solutions; prepares these solutions.

The drying and packaging of food products requires flexibility on the part of all personnel as operations change depending upon the needs of the customer. This will require a Lead Dryer Operator to train and work in other departments on a periodic basis to ensure customer requirements are met in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities
* Understand and follow safety, GMP, food safety, and other rules or policies.
* Perform safe sanitation on equipment, infrastructure, grounds, and other assigned areas.
* Responsible for reading and understanding material safety data sheets for chemicals used for cleaning or ingredients.
* Follow and direct all procedures on precautions of wearing PPE when working around chemicals or ingredients.
* Monitor quality assurance controls during the production on Dryers & Packaging, for example: metal checks, weight checks, and code date verifications are performed on a routine basis and records are maintain, accurate written, and electronic information is documented to ensure the customer receives a quality product.
* Follow and direct the established processes for CIP procedures.
* Record and maintain accurate written and electronic information for CIPs, or any other documents required by the company to regulate downtime, parameters, procedures and equipment through basic analysis, simple calculations, and computer controls.
* Verification and finalize of batch paperwork.
* Inspect Dryer & Pack line infrastructure, monitor equipment, and notify operators, Supervisor, and management when maintenance is required.
* Call maintenance and access MAPCON to write Work Order as needed.
* Assist in troubleshooting of Drying & Packaging equipment with maintenance and help if needed on Process problems.
* Assign work to team members depending upon the production schedule and according to changes of operational needs.
* Communicate and direct other employees respectfully, and in an effective manner.
* Learn and Train on all equipment in Drying and Packaging lines safely and efficiently to cover Call ins and Vacation.
* Dedicated to one shift to focus on Drying and Packing side.
* First called to cover on the opposite shift (Day Lead covers for day shift and Night Lead for night shift).

* Cover SAP duties for the Process side.
* Monitor quality assurance controls during the production of Process. For example: autolysis, separation, filtration, concentration, product analysis, weight checks, and code date verifications are performed on a routine basis to ensure the customer receives a quality product. Ensure records are maintain, accurate written, and electronic information is documented.
* Inspect Process infrastructure, monitor Process equipment.
Required qualifications:
* High school diploma or 3 years minimum of experience in similar position.
* Ability to follow instructions, learn and ask questions.
* Mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills.
* Good people skills.
* Ability to manage time and look ahead.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
* Ability to be forklift certified required.
* Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
* Add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Perform simple mathematical analysis using the units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
* Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Solve standardized problems with few or no variables. Use learned experience to solve more detailed and complex problems.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to dry and dusty and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold or extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

* Knowledge of manufacturing and packaging processes preferred.
