Idaho State University's Department of Mechanical and Measurement & Control Engineering (MMCE) invites applications to join our dynamic and growing team. The position is for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biomechanical Engineering starting August 2026.
As an Assistant Professor in MMCE, the expectations for the successful applicant are to participate in developing and teaching both undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses, as well as in the core undergraduate curriculum, to build a collaborative, externally funded research program and to perform professional service. Consideration will be given to applicants with broad research interests in Biomechanical Engineering which may include but are not limited to biomechanics, medical devices/wearables, rehabilitation engineering, biomaterials, and medical imaging. The Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Social Work beginning August 2026. We seek applicants who can teach core and elective courses within the MSW curriculum. We are open to a variety of research interests for this position, as well as a variety of theoretical and methodological approaches. However, we are especially interested in applicants whose research focus is on rural social work and mental health. Teaching duties for this position are a 3/3 load and include in-class, broadcast (synchronous online), and online (asynchronous) formats. While we are open to a variety of teaching foci, we are particularly interested in candidates who can teach research-oriented classes. Job Description
The Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Criminology at Idaho State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in criminology beginning August 2026. While we are open to a wide range of teaching and research interests with a criminological focus, we are especially interested in a candidate whose expertise lies at the intersection of criminology and mental health/medical sociology. Applicants who can teach courses in penology, community corrections, mental health and criminology, and related topics are especially encouraged. Teaching duties for this position are a 3/3 load and may include in-class, broadcast (synchronous online), online (asynchronous), and hyflex (online and in-person at the same time) formats. The successful candidate will be expected to grow and maintain an active research program, including publishing in scholarly journals and submitting grant proposals, and to fill service roles in the department, college, university, and community.

* Ph.D. in sociology, criminology, criminal justice or related social science field (ABDs are eligible to apply but must have degree in hand by June 30th, 2026).

* Evidence for potential excellence in teaching in a variety of formats, including synchronous and asynchronous online classes.

Idaho State University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. The appointment will begin in the Fall 2026 semester and is renewable for up to three years. The department is seeking a candidate with the ability to contribute broadly to its undergraduate and three graduate programs (DA, MA, and MPA), with a specific emphasis on candidates with expertise in American Politics, covering institutions and behaviors. The successful candidate is expected to cover the department's needs to teach the Presidency, the Legislative Process, Political Parties and Groups, and Voting and Public Opinion courses spread over two semesters on a 3-3 teaching load.

The Department of History at Idaho State University (******************** invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor. The appointment will begin in the fall semester 2026 and is renewable for up to three years. The geographic and chronological focus for this position are open, but preference will be given to scholars whose work is global in nature and addresses the history of medicine. The candidate will broadly contribute to the Department's dynamic undergraduate and graduate curriculum, including general education history courses, established lower-division courses, and upper-division courses in their field of specialization. Idaho State is currently developing an interdisciplinary certificate in the medical humanities, and it is anticipated that the candidate will contribute courses toward it.
