Blade Operator Job in Lewistown, MT
Full time, permanent, year-round position
The District Operator must perform construction, repair, and maintenance
services of County roads, bridges, and equipment Also, may be required
to perform additional various semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of
County roads, bridges, traffic control signs and storm drainage systems.
DUTIES:
Operates truck and equipment of various sizes and weights in the
loading, hauling and unloading of various materials
Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency
equipment is in good working order
Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, follow signals from
loading crew and check that vehicle and loading equipment are properly
positioned
Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repairs status,
following applicable state and federal regulations
Inspect and maintain vehicles supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil,
water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper
working condition

Plows snow and sands where necessary during the winter months
Installs and or cleans out cattle guards, ditches, and culverts as
necessary
Re-builds roads and/or bridges where washouts have occurred
Maintains professionalism by exercising tact, diplomacy and good
judgement when dealing with the general public or other county staff
Back up other Districts or the Road and Bridge Supervisor as needed
Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must routinely lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally required
to lift and or move up to 100 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Montana State Class A CDL within forty-five (45) days of hire and
maintain all conditions associated with this license
Gravel road construction experience is a plus
Required to provide Supervisor with copies of all certifications of
completion of any continuing education credits
Must be able to operate all types of large and small construction
equipment and vehicles
Knowledge of all traffic laws and standard processes for the safe
operation of a vehicle within a public roadway or road construction
project
Knowledge of county road and bridge departmental operations, including
knowledge of safety principles involved in operating construction
equipment in an environment with multiple individuals involved in
various phases of construction or debris removal
