    The centralized scheduler will receive incoming calls for scheduling radiology procedures; insure proper instruction of preps with lack of scheduling conflicts; maintain scheduling to ensure completeness and accuracy of all radiology modalities; exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, physicians, and co-workers. The Pre-certification Specialist is responsible for collecting complete, accurate information, securing appropriate physician orders, assisting in resolution or problems associated with departmental activities, effective communication and customer relation skills, ability to be self directed. Serves as a liaison for relaying patient authorization information to staff and physicians. Maintains records on all referrals/pre-certifications. Maintains patient follow-up tickler system. Provides back up telephone coverage for the Scheduling department as needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; possess moderate computer skills; high level organizational skills which must include good follow-up; be self-motivated; knowledge of medical terminology; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with patients, physicians and other staff members; ability to type 45wpm with a minimum 6 months clerical experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
