Role Summary The Laborer plays a vital role in supporting the manual labor needs of various construction sites, ensuring projects are executed efficiently and to the highest quality standards. This role involves performing a wide range of construction tasks, operating tools and equipment, and assisting project teams to meet project goals. SITE PREPARATION & MAINTENANCE · Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, setting up temporary structures, and organizing materials. · Maintain a clean and safe job site by following OSHA safety guidelines and company policies. · Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed. CONSTRUCTION SUPPORT · Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and operating basic construction tools. · Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople as directed. · Measure, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools under supervision. · Mix and pour concrete, lay bricks, and assist with other masonry work. COLLABORATION & TEAMWORK · Work closely with Director of LGA, project managers, superintendents and skilled trades to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met. · Follow instructions precisely and contribute to the smooth workflow of the construction team. POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller serves as the operational financial leader responsible for all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls across all LG Group business platforms. This role ensures accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Controller partners with project management and executive leadership to provide financial insights that drive profitability and sustainable growth, while managing the day-to-day execution of the company's financial operations. REPORTING STRUCTURE · Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) · Direct Reports: Assistant Controller · Indirect Reports: Accounting Specialists; Accounting Assistants KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Operations & Accounting Oversee accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and job costing Maintain separate, accurate general ledgers for all LG Group businesses for reliable multi-entity financial reporting Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Oversee reconciliations of all cash, credit card, and escrow accounts to maintain accurate cash positions Manage the monthly draw process for general contracting projects with support from the Assistant Controller and Project Accountants Serve as the company treasury, initiating ACH and wire transactions with zero errors to ensure timely vendor payments and efficient cash deployment Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and working capital optimization in coordination with the CFO to maintain adequate liquidity Review General Ledger (GL) entries of monthly payroll and related payroll benefits for accuracy and reasonableness and reconcile payroll on a semi-monthly basis. This full-time position is based in the IDOT District One office in Schaumburg, Illinois. The ideal candidate is an Illinois Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) with proven experience in regulated substances management. This role includes setting priorities, resolving technical issues, and overseeing consultant and contractor work related to regulated substances studies. General responsibilities: Provides technical expertise and guidance to the District. Assures regulated substance documents conform to departmental guidelines, are compatible with engineering requirements, and consistent with state and federal law. Monitors regulated substances activities conducted by the District to assure that problems are adequately investigated and that the policy and procedures are uniformly applied. Directs the activities of consultants for regulated substance studies and approves their work. Evaluates the performance of project waste assessment consultants and for their qualifications in regulated substances. Stay current on state and federal waste regulations affecting District operations. Demonstrate knowledge of IEPA TACO and Maximum Allowable Concentrations (MACs) regulations. Experience in transportation PSIs/PESAs. The geologic & waste assessment specialist prepares Special Provision documents for contract lettings based upon results of Phase II PSI results and reviews construction plans prior to letting to ensure that regulated substances issues have been addressed. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical preferred) or science-related field (Geology or Earth Science preferred). 12-15+ years of progressive experience in consulting, with a focus on project management. Proven leadership abilities with the capability to manage and inspire a team. Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills are essential.
