About this Role Human and Organizational Performance is a foundational element of Quanta's Capacity Model. The Capacity Model (TCM) helps create a work environment that focuses on preventing an incident while also building the capacity for failure by always planning and executing our work as if failure is going to happen today. This position is responsible for overseeing structured cable builds for new build and brown field projects. This position is accountable for the successful construction execution of the project and supervising in house and subcontractor crews. This position has the authority to allocate resources and make construction decisions for the assigned area in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides and Contractual commitments. This includes ensuring that all needed tools and equipment are available at the jobsite, working from engineered blueprints, and keeping track of production. The Supervising Engineer will oversee the detailed design of high voltage substation projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers, designers and support staff to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering, with extensive experience in performing the detailed design of high voltage substation projects. What You'll Do Lead and manage projects from inception to completion, including planning, design, permitting, construction support, and closeout. Supervise a team of engineers, designers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Oversee the preparation of engineering designs, specifications, and plans for high voltage electrical substation projects. Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions. Ensure all projects comply with applicable industry, client, governmental regulations and standards. Implement and oversee quality control procedures. Prepare and maintain detailed project status reports, engineering documentation, and records. Evaluates and monitors engineering contractors and consultants. Assist in selection, training, coaching of direct reports to build effective teams. Assign tasks to project design team based on project needs Work with project team to create or modify all design documents Ensure project team applies engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI Other duties as required What You'll Bring Minimum of 7 years' experience in the electric utility industry performing engineering related duties and/or management for high voltage electrical substation design. Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. P.E. license required. Proven track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget. Strong technical expertise in electrical engineering, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles and practices. Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards. Knowledge of utility industry processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines. Knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates. Demonstrated experience supporting external customers. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners. Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, including ANSI, ASTM, ACI, AISC, IEEE NEC, NESC, and others. Able to deal with ambiguity and ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and determine priorities in a complex environment. This role will support estimating efforts for industrial projects within the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes, as well as civil and structural work. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls. What You'll Do Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with primary emphasis on piping and mechanical systems Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure accurate and complete estimates Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate assumptions and execution strategies Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project scope and estimating standards Identify project risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid handoff meetings Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and productivity benchmarks What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
