POSITION SUMMARY: This position is expected to know all aspects of loading rail cars and trucks and understand, and trouble shoot JWS with little to no supervision. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrate the ability to maintain a smooth and efficient flow of truck and rail traffic. * Prior to loading product, inspect truck trailers and railcars to ensure they are free from containments. * Ensure different product types are distributed into the appropriate trucks/rail cars and the proper weight is loaded for each shipment. * Familiar with different silo product types. * Complete bill of lading for truck and rail shipments. Inventory Control * Maintain accurate silo inventory measurements. Training * Participate in company-sponsored training and certification programs * Training of new employees on equipment related to load out area. * Cross train in other areas as needed. * Troubleshoot and maintain variable speed drives. Maintenance and Quality Control * Keep rail and truck scales clean. * Responsible for maintaining a water free environment from rail pit and scales. * Ability to make minor adjustments to load-out related equipment. * Complete daily equipment check reports. * Assist daily in plant cleanup of production areas. Safety * Must be well versed on all aspects of safety. * Comply with company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations at all times. * Complete and document Workplace Inspections in a timely manner. * Perform all assigned work adhering to Company and governmental safety rules and regulations, including company lock out tag out procedures. * Ability to operate heavy equipment including shuttle wagon, front end loader, forklift, bobcat, and tractor in a safe manner. Safe Quality Food (SQF) * Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507). * Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs. * Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture. * Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture. * Complete periodic SQF training(s). * Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees. * Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site. Must be willing to perform any other assigned tasks not specifically indicated. Assist Shipping Coordinator as needed. ATTRIBUTES: * Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills. * Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry. * Must be able perform basic mathematical computations. * Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes. * Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs. * Demonstrate effective decision making skills regarding safety. * Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust. PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: * Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 200 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. * Able to lift over 50 pounds. * Able to open and close latches for doors on shipping containers, ie. Truck and railcars * Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, bill of ladings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. * Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, peers, external truck drivers, and dispatchers with the ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure. * Ability to operate computers and related controls. Provide technical support to plant personnel on new and existing processes and be a resource for information for the design and installation of process equipment applicable to the lime / minerals manufacturing processes. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Provide technical support and direction to the operations in solving equipment and process problems Lead process audits including heat and mass balance measurements and calculations to identify improvement opportunities Lead studies on raw materials and fuels to determine and evaluate potential improvements and impact on quality and efficiency Identify process/production limitations and sources of waste in the process and define corrective actions. Conduct fan audits to assess efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement Challenge operations in a constructive manner to improve performance & reduce cost Provide facts & data for evaluating system improvement opportunities. Assist with implementation of system improvements & projects. Contribute to optimization of plant fuel and power consumption and cost. Promote a culture of continuous improvement. In collaboration with Group, set technical standards and bring innovation to the business Develop Standard Operating Procedures / manuals for key manufacturing processes Develop and present technical training Facilitate trials and production of new products Establish baseline & process limits (benchmarking) for major equipment Provide expertise in environmental technologies and safe operation of equipment to ensure the business maintains its license to operate Contribute to the safe operation of equipment by ensuring equipment alarm limits are properly set for critical parameters Support plants with operation of equipment in a way to minimize emissions and within permit limits Know the main impacts of lime plant operation on environment and the main available abatement technologies: Gas and dust emissions (NOx, SO2, HCl, CO2,HF Heavy metals, organics, etc) Define together with the Regional Environmental Manager the process conditions which allow plants to comply with all current and future environmental regulations Contribute to preparation of permit applications Other duties as assigned ATTRIBUTES: Team player with positive and proactive mindset Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision on multiple projects Technical aptitude and strong analytical skills Detail oriented with strong problem-solving skills Able to work effectively in a cross-disciplinary way with all levels of organization. Able and willing to spend time in the plants working with the Operators, Supervisors, and Managers Excellent communication, presentation and technical writing skills Proficient with Excel (advanced), PowerPoint and Word Knowledge of the lime/minerals manufacturing processes including various kiln, milling, firing, stone preparation crushing/sizing & hydrator systems Working knowledge of process control, instrumentation and automation Proficient in statistical process control and data analysis In-depth knowledge of environmental standards and control technologies Ability to travel up to 30% to Lhoist sites PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Must be physically able to perform work assigned. Must be physically capable of accessing all plant, terminal, and office locations as needed. Tolerate working outside in weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust. Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels. Will be working in an office, mining, and lime processing environment. The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles. The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, civil or chemical engineering preferred. PREFFERED EDUCATION: BS in Engineering REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 2-5+ years process engineering PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: Lime, cement or minerals industry process experience preferred.
