POSITION SUMMARY: Lhoist North America's New Braunfels Plant is a 400,000 ton per year industrial lime manufacturer located in New Braunfels, Texas. The Utility Operator position is responsible for general housekeeping in the plant, the solid fuel handling operation and the removal of lime/limestone waste from the plant to designated dump areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Perform General Plant labor in all operational areas of the plant.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of kiln and kiln-related systems.
Clean bins, conveyers, spills, material from under conveyers and catwalks, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
Continuously observe, monitor, and report any condition that could lead to equipment failure or a safety hazard.
Ability to operate heavy equipment including vacuum truck, haul truck, bobcat, loader, man lift, forklift, shuttle wagon, and tractor in a safe manner.
Assist maintenance in preventative care and minor repairs of equipment used.
Assist in kiln outage work, as needed.
Learn various entry level positions and cross train in other areas of the plant as needed.
Responsible for completing equipment and work area inspections.
Perform all assigned work adhering to Company and governmental safety rules and regulation and follow company lock out tag out procedures.
Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.
ATTRIBUTES:
Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Must be capable of working shift work, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed
Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds.
