In collaboration with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, Liberty Healthcare operates a state-of-the-art 10-bed inpatient mental health unit within the Maguire Correctional Facility, located in Redwood City, CA.
As a Registered Nurse with Liberty Healthcare at the Maguire Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to adult inmates who have acute or chronic mental illness.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Providing medical and psychiatric nursing care to patients
Delivering a full range of nursing services - including conducting daily sick call; evaluating / triaging patient health complaints; examining patients; determining medical and psychiatric needs; interpreting, recording and reporting conditions of significance to the treatment team; and dispensing medications according to Physician orders
Documenting patient encounters and changes in patient mental health status
Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team planning meetings
Collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, RNs, LCSWs, LMFTs and other ancillary clinicians and security staff
Intervening in crisis situations when patients exhibit acute psychiatric symptoms
Registered Nurses at the Maguire Correctional Facility have the option to provide per diem services for the following schedules:
AM Shift | 6:45am - 3:00pm
PM Shift | 2:45pm - 11:00pm
NOC Shift | 10:45pm - 7:00am

3. Assesses and evaluates patient's status by:

4. Initiates the plan of care and makes necessary revisions as patient status and needs change.
5. Uses health assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis.

7. Initiates appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing procedures. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician in the physician's plan of care.

Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of a National League of Nursing accredited school of nursing.
2. Current licensure in California and current CPR certification.
3. Registered nurses shall have a minimum of (a) one (1) year of experience as a professional nurse within the last three (3) years OR (b) have a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing and a current RN license. The OCM RN Case Manager is responsible for the clinical care and coordination of services provided to patients in their home or place of residence. This includes providing clinical services, such as comprehensive assessments, administration and management of medications or performing treatments ordered by the physician, identifying, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring services needed by a recipient.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a current, unsuspended, un-revoked license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
Knowledge of the current Nursing Practice Act. The Nursing Practice Act (NPA) is the body of California law that mandates the Board to set out the scope of practice and responsibilities for RNs. The NPA is in the California Business and Professions Code starting with Section 2700. Regulations which specify the implementation of the law appear in the California Code of Regulations.
Possesses current CPR certification.
Proficient in the use of computers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following is a representation of the major duties and responsibilities of this position. The Registered Nurse will use the nursing process to assess and manage the patient's medical needs. Follow up with the participant after emergency and inpatient facility admission.
Reports all incidents and issues that arise before, after or during an assessment to the lead RN.
Maintain all scheduled visits on the calendar.
Review all documents associated with the applicant to be prepared before completing assessment.

iii. Identify when services outlined in POT are available through friends, family, and/or publicly funded programs.

v. Identify (and train, if necessary), backup caregivers who are willing and able to provide unpaid support if waiver service providers are not available.
vi. Provide information, education, counseling, and advocacy to, and on behalf of, participants.
