The Position:
LMI is actively searching for an Associate to join the Direct Lending team. This individual will be an integral member of the leveraged financed platform within the Global Credit Markets business. Dedicated to the Direct Lending strategy, this Associate will have responsibilities that provide for significant ownership of the end-to-end private credit investment process including sourcing, underwriting and ongoing portfolio monitoring of private loans.
Responsibilities:
* Contribute as an integral member of the team to invest in private debt financings across the capital structure, with an emphasis on unitranche, first lien, and second lien loans.
* Assist in quarterbacking the investment process from start to finish, working closely with Team Leaders and Credit Research to conduct company and industry research, develop investment recommendations, and to manage loan positions post-closing of the initial investment
* Contribute to the preparation of the investment committee memorandums (complete with financial projections) and support Team Leaders in the presentation of the team's investment recommendations to internal investment committees
* Support Team Leaders in the evaluation, structuring, and negotiation of economic and legal terms at both the term sheet stage and during final documentation
* Actively monitor the performance of existing investments and maintain relationships post-close with key investment participants, including the Borrower / Sponsor and Agent; provide detailed updates to team members during scheduled portfolio reviews and as needed on an ad-hoc basis
* Collaborate cross-functionally with additional LMI teams including Legal, Finance, Accounting and Risk Management to execute transactions and manage the portfolio
* Engage externally with other market participants (e.g. other direct lenders and buyside investors, bankers, advisers, and third-party consultants) as part of the overall investment process
* Support relationship coverage with private equity firms across the lower, middle, and large market, as well as other deal sources to help meet the team's origination targets
* Take an active role in the training, development, and coaching of Analysts within the team
Qualifications
* 5+ years of investing experience, including a minimum of 3+ years in the direct lending / private credit space
* Previous experience in underwriting and monitoring credit investments
* Proven ability to interact with, assess, and build relationships internally as well as externally, with Borrowers, Sponsors and other deal sources
* Previous experience with credit agreement documentation and or other relevant legal documentation
* Ability to identify company, industry, and market risks and opportunities, and to evaluate risk mitigation strategies
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an ability to clearly articulate relevant key learnings and insights derived during the due diligence process
* Self-starter with a willingness to be flexible and take on additional responsibilities depending on the needs of the business
* Strong academic credentials and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience
* Proven ability to work collaboratively in team environments
* Demonstrates strong AI literacy and uses AI-enabled tools to enhance speed, accuracy, and insight generation while maintaining sound judgment and compliance with governance standards

The Position
We are currently seeking a candidate for a senior analyst position on the Portfolio Strategy and Management ("PS&M") team within Global Alternative & Credit Markets Investments division. This individual will be exposed to the full private investment platform, including each of our asset class sleeves (currently inclusive of private equity, real estate, private credit and energy and infrastructure). The PS&M team partners across asset class sleeves to add value by leading overall portfolio strategy, portfolio construction and analysis as well as analytics-driven decision-making focused on capital creation for private investments. Responsibilities:

Qualifications
Minimum of five years of experience in the handling of litigated and non-litigated commercial general liability claims.

Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for an Environmental Complex Claims Officer - a role ideal for claims professionals with significant experience handling complex environmental/pollution matters and/or mass litigation/toxic tort claims. The Environmental Complex Claims Officer will handle a book of Commercial Specialty Lines Claims, throughout the entire claim's life cycle, and will be responsible for conducting investigations, recommending adequate reserves, monitoring, documenting, and settling/closing claims in an expeditious and economical manner within prescribed authority limits for the line of business.
There is a strong preference for the selected candidate to live within a 50-mile radius of one of the listed Hub Offices (Westborough, MA; Boston, MA; Suwanee, GA; Plano, TX; Hoffman Estates, IL; Indianapolis, IN; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Chandler, AZ or Weatogue, CT), and have the ability to come into the office two times a month. This policy is subject to change. We will consider a remote candidate for this opportunity if you do not live within 50-miles of one of these offices.
We are open to fill this position, depending on related professional skills and experience. The salary range reflects the varying pay scale for both levels that encompasses each of the Liberty Mutual regions across the country, and the overall cost of labor for each region. Please note the salary for your region may be lower than the top of the range listed.
Responsibilities
Analyzes, investigates, and evaluates the loss to determine coverage and claim disposition.
Utilizes Claim System to document claims and to diary future events or follow-up.
Within prescribed settlement authority for line of business, establishes appropriate reserves for both indemnity and expense and reviews on a regular basis to ensure adequacy.
Makes recommendations to set reserves at appropriate level for claims outside of authority level.
Prepares comprehensive reports as required. Identifies and communicates specific claim trends and account and/or policy issues to management and underwriting.
Manages the litigation process through the retention of counsel.
Adheres to the line of business litigation guidelines to include budget, bill review and payment.
Pro-actively manages the case resolution process.
Actively participates in mediations and arbitrations, within limit of settlement authority. Participates in the claims audit process.
Provides claims marketing services by meeting with brokers, risk managers and reinsurers, as necessary.
As required, maintains insurance adjuster licenses.
Qualifications
Bachelors' and/or advanced degree. J.D. preferred.
7 + years claims/legal experience, with at least 2 years within a technical specialty preferred
Advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques, to include but not limited to coverage issues, and product line knowledge
Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in various jurisdictions
Demonstrated advanced verbal and written communications skills
Demonstrated advanced analytical, decision making and negotiation skills
Advanced Environmental Claims and/or Pollution Claims experience preferred
Experience with mass litigation and/or toxic tort required
