Qualifications
Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc
Minimum of 6 years of IT and program management and experience working in an Agile team, including coaching on Lean-Agile approaches; Minimum of 8 years in a leadership position, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Knowledge/training equivalent to at least one advanced certification from a reputable Lean/agile organization preferred, not required (SPS, SAFe SPC, SAFe SM, IC Agile Professional Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF), IC Agile Professional Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC))

This role will manage four talented actuaries/analysts overseeing advanced actuarial analyses in pricing, underwriting, and operational monitoring. This role will involve broad collaboration with analytical teams throughout the organization, strong communication skills to share insights and gain buy-in with other functional areas (e.g. other HO Analytics teams, State Management, Underwriting, US Data Sciences, Finance, Claims, Distribution), and opportunities to present to senior management. Responsibilities:
Perform advanced actuarial analyses in the following areas: valuation/reserving, pricing, product development, research/support, business planning and finance.
Manage the process by which we set peril-specific base rates for each of our states, brands, and programs.
Review and share state specific insights and assumptions to refine actuarially sound and customized indications for Home new and renewal books in the large complex states
Develop, track and utilize appropriate actuarial techniques and methodologies to forecast profitability at the state level to account for state-specific considerations while aligning with countrywide guidance.
Develop a deep understanding of the complex states in various aspects that contributed to the success of the whole state operations and underwriting economics, pursuing ad-hoc projects as needed to help support evaluation of state levers in underwriting, marketing, digital platform, distribution channel, and geographical risk management.
Independently identify, research and address knowledge gaps in our understanding of state unique market and regulatory environments, develop expertise, and document insights, methodologies and processes.
Collaborate with Actuarial, Finance, Claims, Product, Data & Modeling, Product Design, and other teams in Risk Analytics to assess and improve profitability positions in the complex states, leverage information from partners to assess the performance and impacts of new programs and product enhancements in these unique markets.
Understanding our business competitiveness and pricing accuracy across various segments in these states; highlight states/segments that are performing better/worse than expected based on key metric assumptions and state features.
Communicates findings and emerging trends to stakeholders, makes effective action recommendations and provides state profit and growth tactics insights.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred.

What Is the Opportunity?
Reports to Field Manager, Boiler and Machinery. Responsible for managing delivery of Boiler and Machinery Risk Control services to large account and special risk clients country-wide. General Summary:The Sales Consultant Associate is in active development to be a marketing and technical expert who represents Unum - educating and motivating other professionals to sell Unum products to their clients in the small case market. The SCA is responsible for building relationships with insurance brokers, agents, and consultants to advise, educate, price, and negotiate the best employee benefit offering for their employer clients. Sales Consultant Associates participate in an extensive development program that includes, among many other components, the assignment of a mentor, participation with an associate group class cohort, and technical/product training.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively learn and understand the Unum business environment to support the acquisition and retention of new customers
Acquire a broad knowledge of Unum's group and voluntary product portfolio and service offerings and how to position sales solutions to brokers and clients
Develop and build relationships with brokers in an assigned territory and/or for an assigned product
Assist in the enrollment process for new and existing customers

Accurately and appropriately documents time tracking for work performed. Achieves annual time tracking goal.

Qualifications
Ability to analyze and make sound nursing judgments and to accurately document activities.
Strong communication skills in order to build relationships with injured employees, medical professionals, employers, field claims staff and others.
Good negotiation skills to effectively establish target return to work dates and coordinate medical care.
Knowledge of state, local and federal laws related to health care delivery preferred.

Recognized across the discipline as a thought leader, this position influences senior leadership decisions and advances engineering practices within the company. The individual will lead the formulation and execution of a technical roadmap designed to accelerate delivery velocity and unlock new engineering capabilities across PolicyCenter and related products.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop clear, comprehensive, and integrated system, technical, and product recommendations to ensure consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility within the UIP business domain and portfolio.
* Articulate and champion a bold technical vision and roadmap for UIP, balancing rapid experimentation with scalable, long-term architecture development.
* Consult and collaborate with technology leaders, product managers, business operations, and peer groups on both long- and short-term product features, providing portfolio-level oversight and influencing the engineering backlog for programs and teams.
* Lead architecture and design reviews; provide technical guidance to engineering teams, resolving complex technical challenges across Policy, Quoting, and Underwriting domains.
* Define and lead the adoption of engineering excellence guardrails, standards, and patterns across multiple product teams and large portfolios.
* Contribute to forecasting business and IT trends to set technical direction, serving as a trusted advisor for UIP platform strategy and capabilities.
* Promote the adoption of the well-architected framework to embed Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, and Cost Optimization into cultural norms; act as an expert on non-functional system characteristics.
* Develop and execute technical software development strategies across various domains, evolving the tech stack to leverage modern backend and frontend frameworks, storage, eventing, and messaging solutions; accountable for solution quality, usability, and performance.
* Recommend improvements for process efficiency and effectiveness; consistently share best practices and drive process enhancements within and across teams.
* Partner with Architecture, Tech Enablement, and the Guidewire platform team to implement monitoring, alerting, and automation for platform reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency, contributing to a highly available and performant platform.
* Participate in incident management events, provide consultative recommendations for resolutions, lead post-incident reviews, and drive remediation and resilience improvements.
* Maintain collaborative and strategic partnerships among customers, vendors, business partners, and technology teams; work closely with vendor teams supporting Guidewire PolicyCenter to ensure adherence to engineering, coding, and platform standards; solve complex engineering challenges across implementation domains.
* Break down complex problems into practical, operational solutions; manage multiple projects simultaneously while maximizing impact.
* Mentor staff to develop technical engineering capabilities; serve as a role model within the tech community and lead through hands-on technical contributions.
* Share expertise to ensure continuous improvement and learning within teams to meet current and future engineering needs; demonstrate external industry recognition through publications, speaking engagements, or other indicators; continue learning and inject advanced technical knowledge into the community.
* Influence and educate leadership at all levels on technology strategy, tradeoffs, risks, and investment decisions to advance UIP outcomes.

What you'll do
Lead the framing, imagination, build, launch and iteration of two types of experiments:
Incubation efforts in which we're testing for value on net new concepts or bold bets
Acceleration efforts in which we're fast-tracking known areas of value with extreme ambiguity in order to give the core business a running start
Partner very closely with the USRM core business, including Strategy & Technology, Distribution & Marketing, Property & Specialty and Auto.
Lead a cross-functional team focused on experiments by setting exemplary requirements and then project managing execution. This will require the role to have working knowledge of functional concepts, process and norms:
Partner on research and design efforts to create and iterate on digital experiences. This will include ideation sessions, design sprints, requirements setting, UI tradeoff decisions, etc.
Act has a product owner for 1-2 squads. This includes ceremony mgmt., story development, technical decisions, etc.
Partner with marketing strategy and delivery to plan and execute on email and other marketing campaigns
Define success metrics and reporting strategies and then monitor experiment performance and make data-informed decisions.
Manage tradeoffs across experiments and product roadmaps.
Monitor performance and make small and large-scale decisions to improve results or sunset experiments.
Source, manage and execute on longer term roadmap.
