The hospital was dedicated and opened to serve Liberty County on December 3, 1961 as a 28-bed acute care hospital.
In 1974, adding 28,000 square feet, which increased the beds from 28 to 50, expanded the hospital.
In an effort to serve continuing education needs of the hospital employees, the Hospital Authority constructed the Fraser Conference Center in 1982.
The Hospital Authority of Liberty County changed the name of the hospital from Liberty Memorial Hospital to Liberty Regional Medical Center on July 1, 1994.
On May 28, 1997, the Hospital Authority, Liberty County Commissioners, and Hinesville City Council united together to break ground at the Lewis Ashmore Medical Park to build the future home of Liberty Regional Medical Center.
On November 22, 1998, the Hospital Authority of Liberty County celebrated the Grand Opening of Liberty Regional Medical Center's new 70,000 square foot facility located in the Lewis Ashmore Medical Park on Highway 196 West in Hinesville.
