JOB DESCRIPTION

Dynamic orthopedic and sports outpatient physical therapy facility seeking a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to lead our Aquatic Therapy program. Training will be provided if needed. The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant's have independent schedules, while also having open communication with PT's for questions. He or she helps restore clients to their previous state of physical fitness after surgery, illness, or accident. Patient population mostly includes total joint replacements, arthroscopic surgical procedures, back pain, athletic injuries, and global arthritis.

The ideal candidate has a license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Massachusetts, Candidates must have a pleasant and courteous personality, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and good computer skills. Aquatic therapy experience or knowledge is a bonus. Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are a plus. Great learning environment and excellent benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES


Helps develop, direct, and carry out aquatic physical therapy plans of care and activities following the rules, guidelines, and regulations of the facility Helps the Physical Therapist with all aspects of the program, including scheduling and helping during therapy sessions Screens and evaluates each client to determine appropriate treatment and monitors client progress throughout treatment Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required Performs other duties as assigned Plans, develops, organizes, evaluates, and directs physical therapy activities following the rules, guidelines, and regulations of the facility
QUALIFICATIONS


Current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, staff, vendors, and others Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the internet Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus

Responsibilities:
Your days will be busy treating patients, coordinating patient care with the Physical Therapist, Operations Support Specialists and Clinic Director.

You will complete daily patient care notes, progress notes, and other required forms as requested by treating physicians, rehab nurses or insurance companies, case managers and physician referrals.

You will provide continuous communication with referring physicians and other referring sources.

You will be responsible for maintaining the required clinical logs and checklists that are necessary to keep the clinic in compliance with all local and federal requirements.

-All Physical Therapist Assistants must be licensed, or license eligible in the state they are applying.

* Perform treatments and provide exercise instruction and demonstration for patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy under the supervision of a physical therapist. Document treatment results per department procedure. Utilize equipment and technology for best outcomes.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

* Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)
* Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
* Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
* Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.

WORKING CONDITIONS

* General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.
* May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights.
* May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids, or infectious organisms.
* May be required to change from one task to another of different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
* Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
* May be scheduled as needed including overtime

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

* 2 year / Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (Required)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* 0 - 1 year clinical, medical setting (Preferred)
