Job Summary:
The RN Resident is expected to successfully complete the 12-month Nurse Residency Program (NRP). The Wellstar program is designed to facilitate and provide support for a successful transition into professional practice for the new graduate RN with less than 6 months of experience as a Professional Registered Nurse.

The RN Resident, under the direct supervision of the Unit Manager and in collaboration with the Professional Nurse Educator, Assistant Nurse Manager, and his/her Preceptor, is responsible for the provision of nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with current Wellstar Standards of Care.
The RN Resident is a proactive member of an interprofessional team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients receive individualized, high quality, safe patient care. Families and significant others are viewed as engaged care team partners supporting the patient across the continuum of care. The framework for practice is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, Patient Care Delivery Model, evidence-based practice, and research. Job Summary and Qualifications
The Cardiac Rehab RN program will staff registered nurses that have expertise in cardiovascular disease and the application of secondary prevention strategies.
What you will do in this role:
Contributes expertise as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to offer comprehensive treatment strategies to provide positive outcomes for individual patients and for the cardiac health, rehabilitation and prevention program.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with rehab team members about individual patient findings or concerns and about program improvement issues.
Demonstrates a willingness to strive toward proficiency in competences.
Demonstrates the interpersonal and observational skills needed to effectively identify appropriate psychosocial adaptation to illness and/or the presence of psychopathology (i.e. depression, anger, excessive anxiety, coronary prone behavior, etc.)
Assesses patients' risk factors that are modifiable and demonstrates ability to offer support and strategies to aid patient in successful therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC).
Understands and utilizes contemporary theories of health behavior change in helping patients identify learning and lifestyle modification goals.
Leads and assist in scheduling program educational classes and/or individual sessions.
Conducts initial assessment and orientation of new patients. Assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members.
Supervises exercise session, monitoring patients for inappropriate response to exercise. Responsible for blood pressure measurement and observation of telemetry response. Assesses patient's pre, during and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the patient, other staff, and Medical Director.
Charts and documents initial and daily assessment data in patient records.
Immediately reports any new, changing and/or significant patient conditions (dysrythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in patient status, etc. ) to the referring physician and/or supervising physician.
Initiates emergency care according to the department policy.
Participates in the collection, analysis and reporting of identified individual patient outcomes and program outcomes.
Participates in marketing of the cardiac rehab program with the physicians and in the community.
participates in the referral process of patients to the program.
Attends all scheduled staff meetings.
What qualifications you will need:

Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree

Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift.
