Position Scope

Overview
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a full time Substance Use Counselor to join our Goldman Clinic , one of Philadelphia's oldest and largest outpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs.
The Goldman Clinic provides comprehensive outpatient , intensive outpatient (CAP IOP) , and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) services, including methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol. Services are delivered in a structured, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive environment, with specialized programming for Spanish-speaking participants.
This role is ideal for counselors who want consistent daytime hours and the opportunity to make a direct impact in a well-established outpatient treatment setting.
Responsibilities
• Conduct intake assessments, biopsychosocial evaluations, and individualized treatment plans• Provide individual counseling and facilitate group therapy sessions• Lead psychoeducation, relapse prevention, and recovery focused groups• Support clients enrolled in outpatient, CAP IOP, and MAT services• Document all clinical services and progress notes in the Electronic Health Record• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical supervision• Coordinate referrals, aftercare planning, and community support services• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
• Associate, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, or related field• Minimum 2 years of experience in substance use treatment, counseling, or human services• Experience working in outpatient, methadone, or MAT programs strongly preferred• Knowledge of addiction recovery, co-occurring disorders, ASAM criteria, and trauma-informed care• Strong group facilitation, documentation, and clinical assessment skills• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records and Microsoft Office• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred• Relevant certification or licensure preferred but not required

All work is performed in accordance with CATCH policies and procedures, and professional mental health standards. The Residential Counselor will function as a member of the Residential Service Team with the following major responsibilities:
BRIEF OUTLINE OF DUTIES
Assisting in developing and carrying out individual plans for clients and in preparing them to make transition to a more highly structured residential/treatment program.
Providing counseling and training for clients in areas such as personal care, life skills, conflict resolution, etc.
Facilitating interaction among clients and co-leading group activities.
Assisting consumers with learning and achievement of activities of daily living.
Completing all documentation as instructed.
Accompanying consumers on off unit activities.
Medication Administration certification may be required for Personal Care Homes.
All other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONS REQUIREMENTS
High School degree or GED required. Advanced studies in a related area preferred. At least six months experience in a human services field is required. This experience must involve direct contact with individual(s) receiving services. Willingness to work a variable schedule with weekend and holiday rotation.
