The professional counselor assists with developing and implementing college‐wide counseling programs. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of the principles, theories and practices of mental health, career, and academic counseling and adherence to professional ethical standards. * Knowledge of modern/current counseling practices and methods and follows policies and procedures of Dallas College. * Experience in administration and assessment of psychological, academic and career testing instruments. * Ability to maintain records, prepare reports and correspondence. * Ability to handle information in a confidential and professional manner. * Ability to form and maintain effective counseling relationships with clients. * Sensitive, creative and an understanding of people and their interactions. * Must have the ability to function effectively in a diverse environment. * Extensive experience in leading the process of ongoing strategic planning. * Ability to establish priorities oversees progress towards goals and track details. * Must be well organized and able to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments and student groups. * Outstanding and effective communication skills demonstrated by the ability to interact effectively and professionally with a wide range of individuals.
