This is a contract role based at Westinghouse World Headquarters in Cranberry Twp, PA /open to remote candidates as well.
As a Senior ReactorOperator your knowledge and skills will be used in the areas of Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), for new plant design as well as the operating PWR fleet (including AP1000). You will be working on the new generation of reactors like the AP300 SMR and eVinci microreactor, the new fleet of AP1000 and the operating fleet from all over the world.
The Nuclear Operations group is an innovative team that has supported the commissioning of PWRs since the beginning of the commercial nuclear power industry and plays a vital role in plant operations today. Our experience is key to defining and improving how nuclear power plants are run worldwide, while supporting utilities worldwide. Building your skills based on operating plant experience in the field, combined with new plant development, will be a major accelerator for your career in the nuclear industry.
What your day-to-day looks like:
* Apply knowledge about integrated plant operations to develop/update the way control room operators run plants with operating procedures in normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
* Validate various scenarios in control room simulators, before they are used to train reactoroperators and implemented in plants worldwide.
* Scope of work will include the operating fleet (integrating operating experience and new scenarios) and the next generation of nuclear plants (SMR and microreactors), giving you learning and development opportunities in both worlds.
* Develop test procedures supporting commissioning of new plants (like the AP1000) to demonstrate the functionality of components and systems from pre-op testing through the various startup phases.
* Develop plant operation and operating procedure for the Westinghouse eVinci Micro Reactor and AP300 Small Modular Reactor designs to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operation.
* Work with existing customers and internal team to develop and update NOPs, AOPs, EOPs, FSGs, and other related documents for the operating fleet including the AP1000.
* Collaboration with new plant designers and licensedreactoroperators to define the best and safest way to operate nuclear plants.
* As an author of operating and test procedures, you may have the opportunity to support the commissioning of new plants worldwide.
* Presence in our Cranberry (PA) headquarters is preferred but remote work will be considered.
What we need to see from you:
* 20+ years of experience working as a licensedReactorOperator or Senior ReactorOperator in a Commercial Nuclear Power Plant (PWR) or experience as a qualified SRO Instructor.
* Held a Senior ReactorOperatorLicense for a Power Reactor in the past 5 years OR has been an active Operating Procedure Writer for a Power Reactor in the past 5 years.
* Detailed knowledge of PWR operation, systems, components, and procedures is required.

Under the guidance of an instructor, you will also obtain the necessary licensing and certification to operate heavy construction machinery, including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less.

Perform work of higher skills in the operation, inspection, testing and adjustment of all plant fire protection systems, first aid functions, and equipment. Duties are remove, repair and/or install as required, fire protection equipment such as fire hoses, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, plug-in components, isolation valves, fire doors, replacement of flow switches, tamper switches, fusible links, replace level and pressure switches, lamping and batter replacement on emergency lighting, etc.,
Operate, test, and adjust fire protection equipment such as: fire hydrants, deluge and isolation valves, foam systems, Cardox and Halon suppression systems, alarm systems, breathing apparatus and auxiliary equipment associated with the fire protection system
Make routine inspections of equipment and areas as assigned and record data as required
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned areas
Move and handle fire protection equipment, materials and supplies
Assist other departments as required in firefighting, first aid and related work
Operate and test fire pumps
Perform confined space surveys to determine the presence of oxygen and/or potential explosive gas atmospheres
Perform other similar or less skilled work of the occupational group

Upon completion of the program, the Trainee will be required to meet and exceed both corporate and regional objectives for streamlining logistics, optimization of resources, managing human capital, and managing safety standards of an Airgas plant.
* Operate and safely maintain plant operations and distribution for cylinder packaged gasses while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local regulations, and company policies and procedures
* Schedule and direct safety meetings
* Coordinate testing and maintenance needs to production demands, working in conjunction with Production and
* Distribution managers
* Assign cylinder warehousing; maintain quality control and other required records (DOT, FDA, EPA, Airgas, etc.)

Provide operability review for systems specifically during off-normal conditions.
Assist in developing refueling sequences and ensure systems can accommodate shutdown and refueling operations.
Directing operating shift personnel in the performance of plant duties including standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts and coordinating and directing the operation of the nuclear power plant's systems. Shift work, continuous training with periodic examinations, and respirator qualification are all requirements of this position.

* Operate, test, and adjust fire protection equipment such as: fire hydrants, deluge and isolation valves, foam systems, Cardox and Halon suppression systems, alarm systems, breathing apparatus and auxiliary equipment associated with the fire protection system
* Make routine inspections of equipment and areas as assigned and record data as required
* Maintain cleanliness of equipment and assigned areas

* Assist other departments as required in firefighting, first aid and related work

Program Length: 16 Weeks
Location: On-Site, Based at Branch Locations
Midwest Region: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Dakota.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
• Exposure to high noise levels in the work environment
• Ability to properly and repeatedly lift up to 50-100 lbs on a daily basis
• Ability to work on sloped roofs of varying pitch and height
