The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for a variety of duties related to the overall support to individuals receiving services from Skill Creations, Inc. The individuals served are affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury and secondary mental health/substance abuse issues. The DSP works in the individual's home and/or in the community providing one-to-one or group care according to the specific needs of the individuals and their plan of care. Examples of the type of duties include assisting the individual with personal care, preparing meals/snacks and assisting with taking medications. The Direct Support Professional also provides training opportunities in the areas of communication, recreation/leisure skills and appropriate behaviors.
