LifeCare Medical Center company history timeline

1997

Our 12-bed Doctor Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion in Wilmington opened in 1997.

2006

The Canton Community Clinic applied for federal funding to become a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). With overwhelming support from the Stark County community, the Clinic was approved and funding was made available in March 2006.

2007

Canton Community Clinic moved to its permanent home in 2007, located at 2725 Lincoln Street East in the center of a medically underinsured health care area.

2012

Our seven-bed SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, began serving patients in 2012

2014

In 2014, a new, six-bed wing was completed at our Doctor Robert M. Fales Hospice Pavilion.

In 2014, the Richard D. Watkins Canton Community Clinic name was changed to Lifecare Family Health & Dental Center.

2015

Lifecare was awarded funding in August 2015 for a third location in Western Stark County.

2020

As of January 1, 2020, Lower Cape Fear Hospice changed its name to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare to better represent its expanded service lines, unite Mercy Care and Lower Cape Fear Hospice under one name and logo, and position the agency for future growth.
