LifeCell company history timeline

1986

In 1986, the board made an exception to the rule, allowing two of its researchers at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston to take a stake in a commercial venture that their research efforts helped to create.

1990

In January 1990, the company received its fourth research grant within the year, a grant awarded by the National, Heart, Lung and Blood Institution to develop a method of preserving heart valves for transplantation.

In 1990, the company's equipment-selling business gained the support of an important partner when an agreement was signed with a major Japanese trading company, Nissei Sangyo Co.

1992

Revenue totaled a paltry $239,102 in 1992, the year LifeCell completed its initial public offering (IPO) of stock, but the debut of the company's product was near, fueling hope that the company soon would generate exponentially larger sums of revenue.

1993

Commercial distribution of the company's first product commenced in December 1993, when AlloDerm, a human dermal graft, was introduced to the market.

1995

In September 1995, LifeCell began marketing AlloDerm to periodontists, promoting the use of the tissue graft in periodontal surgery.

1997

Since 1997, some surgeons had been using AlloDerm for surgical procedures in the fields of urology and gynecology, which prompted the company to introduce Repliform as the brand name for a tissue-processing product tailored for the urology and gynecology markets.

1999

1999 LifeCell moves its head offices from Texas to New Jersey; Repliform and Cymetra are introduced.

2002

The company reported a $1.4 million profit in 2002, the year it introduced GraftJacket for use in orthopedic surgical procedures.

2004

2004 Revenues exceed $60 million and the company records its third consecutive year of profits.

2005

In February 2005, life:) becomes Ukraine’s first mobile operator to launch a new service MeloRing (Ring Back Tone) – the melody instead of beeps.

2007

In November 2007, business life:), a brand for life:) corporate subscribers, launches an innovative Mobile Business E-mail" (Push E-mail) service, a unique offering in the Ukrainian market. life:) becomes Ukraine’s first operator to provide Push To Talk service.

2014

As of late 2014, the penetration of 3G-enabled devices among life:) customers reached almost 40% to more than 4 million in absolute terms.

2015

In June 2015, Ookla, the world leader in broadband Internet testing, named the operator a leader in the Global Net Index among telecommunication companies.

Burak Ersoy is appointed life:) CEO. life:) launches its payment service oplata.life.ua. life:) becomes the general partner of Kyiv Smart City Forum 2015 – a major event for Kyiv IT-community, and signs a Memorandum between the representatives of government, business, and society.

2016

The share of smartphones in our network also continues growing and reaches 57% by late 2016 (the market’s highest share). The number of our 3G users reached 3.3 million.

2017

In June, our Virtual Assistant service receives a gold award at Top Ranking Performers 2017 international competition.

2018

Starting from July 5, 2018, lifecell subscribers abroad can make calls using BiP Out free of roaming charges.

Digital operator lifecell becomes a partner of the 15th annual Yalta European Strategy meeting held in Kyiv on September 13–15, 2018.

2019

On May 23, Ericsson Ukraine and lifecell demonstrate 25.6 Gbps speed during the 5G test at the Swedish-Ukrainian Business Forum-2019 in Kyiv.

2020

The cost of the 4-week service package, which is guaranteed to remain unchanged until the end of 2020, is UAH 20.
