  • Lifeguard (Summer 2023)

    This position is for Summer 2022, with a tentative start of mid May Interviews for select candidates will be conducted February - April. Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the (seasonal) lifeguard is required to supervise the members and guests of the Club, keeping them safe in and around the club's facilities. The successful candidate will implement all water safety policies and procedures, work to keep the pool area clean, and conduct themselves professionally at all times. In addition, they must be able to follow and enforce all rules and club policies. Treating all staff, members, and their guests with respect at all times is a must. Duties and Responsibilities: * Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety. * Monitors activity around the pool at all times. * Administers first aid to swimmers' minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises. * Enforces rules of conduct at the pool. * Inspects all pool safety equipment. * Informs the Pool Manger about member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem. * Places rescue tubes and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard office when the pool closes. * Vacuums the pools; empties skimmers; skims bugs and other debris from surface when needed for daily use of the pools. * Performs required pool pre-opening and post-closing duties. * Straightens the pool and surrounding areas at the end of the day including: * Taking all lost and found items to the pool reception desk at the end of the shift. * Picking up cups, trash and towels throughout the shift. * Empties towel bins throughout the shift. 11. Maintains all the necessary records determined by the Pool Manager. 12. Ensures chairs are orderly and cleans up soiled towels and trash on the pool deck and surrounding areas. 13. Assists with the set up and execution of delegated tasks during Swim Meets. 14. Assists with the set up and execution of pool events. 15. Performs other reasonable tasks assigned by the Pool Manager. The (Seasonal) Summer Lifeguard will make $15.00/hr Minimum Qualifications: * Must be at least 15 years of age * Must have reliable transportation (bus, bike, car, scooter, short walk, etc. ) * Must be able to sit in the sun for long periods of time * Must be a proficient swimmer capable of swimming 500 yards without stopping or touching the bottom * Must be able to lift 50lbs * Must already be, or be able to become a certified lifeguard by the start of the season (June 15th). If enough staff need to be certified, the club will hold a certification class. If not, or if the employee is unable to attend the training course offered by the club, the employee is responsible for finding, passing, and paying for, an approved lifeguard course to remain employed.) NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AFTER COMPLETING THE APPLICATION, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO COMPLETE A SHORT TEST.
