Principal Duties, Expectations, and Responsibilities The primary function of the Physician Assistant (PA) is to practice medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. PAs are trained to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services, often in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
