In 1891, Doctor J. M. Frost had a desk, a corner of a newspaper office, and a little money he borrowed from his wife.
So, on April 6, 1933, the library was established with just a few books from Dargan’s own personal library.
In 1949, the Historical Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and their resources were incorporated into the collection of Dargan Library creating an expanded library and archives.
Housed in various locations in the building, in 1965 the library moved to a more prominent location on the first floor across from the auditorium.
Beginning as early as 1971, the Lifeway name was used in limited applications.
In 1984, the Foreign Mission Board of the SBC donated a 20,000 slide collection created by archeologist Fon Scofield.
In 1998, the Sunday School Board officially changed its name to Lifeway Christian Resources.
