This role includes ensuring that vehicles are thoroughly cleaned, properly maintained, and in optimal condition prior to each trip. The Driver will maintain clear and effective communication with their supervisor, LH staff, and residents to ensure timely arrivals at the correct destinations, while providing a safe, comfortable, and positive experience for all passengers. Key Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: Comply with LBHS policies and procedures and adhere to all applicable federal and state traffic laws. Transport residents to group and individual counseling sessions, case management appointments, medical visits, grocery stores, and the Peer Center, while ensuring timely arrivals. Provide transportation to other clients as needed, prioritizing those who are unable to arrange their own transportation. Ensure that the vehicle is thoroughly cleaned before transporting residents, performing routine cleaning every two weeks. Maintain a monthly maintenance log, promptly report any maintenance issues, and ensure the vehicle is safe and operational. Respond to vehicular emergencies (e.g., flat tires, accidents) with professionalism, contacting a supervisor immediately. Adhere to all safety protocols, promptly addressing any safety concerns with the supervisor. Maintain courteous and respectful communication with staff and residents, ensuring privacy and confidentiality. Complete all required training in a timely manner. Uphold LBHS's standards of professionalism and ethical behavior in accordance with the LBHS Code of Conduct. Collaborate with other departments and assist with transportation as requested. Be flexible and available for overtime, including weekends and holidays as needed. Meets and maintains the performance standards of LBHS. Active Listening: Paying close attention to the concerns or requests of passengers, demonstrating that their feelings and needs are being heard. Crisis Management: Being able to handle stressful or potentially volatile situations calmly and professionally and knowing how to de-escalate conflicts or respond to emergencies. Patience and Flexibility: Having the ability to remain calm and adaptable in unpredictable situations, as passengers may require varying levels of support or may have fluctuating emotional states. Confidentiality and Discretion: Respecting the privacy of passengers by maintaining confidentiality regarding their status or any personal information shared during transport. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Ohio Driver's License, clean driving record, valid insurance Must pass BCI check, all Corporate Compliance checks, and employment drug screen. Must be 25 years of age or older Experience: Experience in Transporting Vulnerable Populations: Prior experience driving individuals who may have physical, mental health, or substance use challenges, with a focus on providing a supportive, empathetic, and safe environment during transport. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to provide recovery support services. This role will require driving to various community-based stakeholders across Long Island and other boroughs. Field-based and on-site peer support to prospective clients. Assist client with person-centered recovery goal planning. Collaborate with client and care management team to identify the services clients should receive based on stage of change, immediate needs, and recommended treatment objectives. Transportation Responsibilities: Transporting individuals to homes, businesses, and agency sites. Operate and maintain transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and consumer courtesy. Practice defensive driving Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Keep assigned vehicles clean. Fuel the vehicles, as assigned. Maintain accurate, up to date records on trip sheets, consumer transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that are requested. Assist individuals in and out of the vehicle ensuring that all required safety equipment is utilized in the process of transporting consumers. This will include, but may not be limited to, operating ramps, lifts, and utilizing securement devices, as needed. Read and interpret maps and driving directions to take the most efficient route and interpret road signs in English. Responds immediately to accidents or medical emergencies by notifying emergency response providers and rendering First Aid and/or CPR until emergency personnel arrive. Understand and adheres to Minute Man Arc's Vehicle Safety and Driving Record Evaluations Policy. Qualifications Experience in the human services field a plus. Valid drivers' license and an acceptable driving record. Obtain, and maintain, certification in First Aid, CPR, and Drivers' Safety and other mandated trainings. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals verbally. Must be able to work independently while demonstrating effective time management, organizational, and planning skills. Education and Experience High school diploma / GED and 1-year experience working with individuals with disabilities A valid driver's license and a minimum of one year of driving experience with a safe driving record. In programs requiring pre-employment drug testing, identified employees will undergo drug testing for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines and phencyclidines (PCP). These individuals will also be required to undergo testing upon reasonable suspicion of being under the influence and after any accident whenever consumers are on board at the time of the accident. Post-accident testing for alcohol must occur within 8 hours of the accident and drug testing within 32 hours of the accident.
