Ameresco has a new opportunity for a Lighting Designer to join our Northwest Regional team in Renton, WA.
Responsibilities:Design lighting projects with assistance from specialized computer software;
Coordinate with customers and engineering team for various accounts and manage communication with vendors to facilitate appropriate pricing for design applications;
Assist development team with design for material quotations for various projects;
Collaborate with project manager to gather all pricing information and assist in making calculations to save energy from various lighting arrangements;
Design various lighting layouts and specifications;
Prepare and execute all calculations;
Design lighting mock ups;
Evaluate and implement lighting systems to ensure customer satisfaction; and
Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years industrial power, electrical, utility or engineering projects focusing on lighting design

Preferred Qualifications
Lighting Certification (preferred)
Title 24 Experience
Completion or progress toward engineering, technical, or industry-related education preferred.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.
Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.
Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project.

Job Responsibilities

As an architectural lighting designer, you will support the lighting studio working towards our designs that are inspiring, demanding and highly collaborative. You will be responsible for providing trade-specific system design: layout, calculations (utilizing appropriate software), and coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). You will conduct field inspections to determine existing conditions and to coordinate new work.

Additional responsibilities include:

Create designs from concept through construction administration under the direction of the senior designer(s), produce CAD and/or REVIT construction lighting drawings for a variety of projects and project sizes
Support the design efforts of lighting systems for new installations, system retrofits, system replacement and system upgrades for a wide variety of projects and project types
Learn drawing organization and company standards
Take ownership of completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the work assignments
Attend project meetings and coordinate lighting design efforts with clients and other project team members
Attend continuing education seminars on technical or professional enhancing topics

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will enjoy a team environment and also flexible enough to work independently where needed. Candidates for this role will be eager to learn and will expand their knowledge and hands on experience by challenging themselves and using the highly technical resources around them.

Additional job requirements:

Bachelor's degree from accredited university in Architecture, Interior Design, Theater, Lighting Design or Architectural Engineering
Minimum of 2 to 5 years of lighting design experience is required
Proficiency in the latest versions of Auto CAD and Revit, is a must
Basic working knowledge of AGI Calculation software, Photoshop, InDesign, and Sketch Up, is a must
Passion for lighting design and learning, is a must

tk1sc, a WSP USA company, is seeking a **Lighting Designer** for our **Los Angeles, San Franscisco, Irvine, San Diego, California or Seattle, WA** office.

The Lighting Designer, under supervision, has a responsibility for assisting project designers with the interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating lighting projects. Has design input for specific areas of a project and may be responsible for the management of small projects.

**Your Impact**

+ With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and installation.

+ Perform basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.

+ Assist with the development of technology, monitoring devices, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of lighting equipment and systems according to specifications; implementing future-ready solutions with lighting studio and design standards.

+ Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifics, applying day lighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.

+ Write technical reports summarizing research and specifications with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using artistic renderings, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, flow diagrams, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports.

+ Assist technical staff and project managers with risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis with lighting design concepts, installation, enhancement, mitigation, improvement activities, and renovation projects.

+ Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.

+ Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work.

+ Complete training on assigned tasks.

+ Work collaboratively with other professionals, architects, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on lighting design and development projects.

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

**Who You Are**

**Required Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Lighting Design or closely related discipline.

+ 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in lighting design and studio experience.

+ Familiarity with building technology principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.

+ Familiarity with sustainable lighting strategies, principles, practices, and the application to project work-related issues in a variety of renovation, enhancement, and new design projects.

+ Capable creative skills with an ability to balance lighting aesthetics and client desires with practical concerns.

+ Highly familiar with relevant lighting design and installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

+ Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.

+ Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

+ Basic proficiency with artistic renderings, technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.

+ Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, 3DS Max, InDesign).

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
