Position Overview:
As a Short-Order Cook, you will prepare delicious meals according to our café menu that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and continue developing valuable experience in the culinary industry. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft when moving around the kitchen and able to multi-task. Experience with using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. The goal is to help preserve and enhance our reputation so we can expand our clientele.
Duties and Responsibilities
Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
Prepare ingredients for use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers
Handle and store ingredients and food
Monitor kitchen inventory levels and place orders when there are shortages
Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
Accommodate guests' special requests
Present, garnish, and arrange final dishes before they are served
Occasionally serve food
Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
