Position Summary:
The Cutting Operator will be responsible for tending to the machines to cut, bend, or straighten material. They will also examine completed workpieces for defects and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
This position follows a Continental 12-hour rotating shift schedule(2,2,3). The rotation consists of two consecutive workdays followed by two days off, three workdays on, two days off, two workdays on, and three days off. Weekends are included in this rotation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Start and stop machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
Set up, operate, or tend multiple machines to cut material.
Responsible for ensuring production/quality levels are met, perform size changes, and generate minimal scrap.
Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges and hand tools.
Plan sequences of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of workpiece materials
Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds.
Load workpieces into machines.
Identify quality problems with component(s) or finished products and take the appropriate measures.
Perform assigned preventive maintenance as needed.
Participate in the planning and implementation of Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) -relevant measures (health, safety and environment) to promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workspace.
Ensure full adherence to the “Leader Standard Work” profile.
Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner.
As required, provide training based on the controls plans to new and/or junior employees with a focus on performing work in a safe, efficient, quality minded manner.

Hand dry parts or operate automatic parts washer.
Communicate issues with Waste Water Department and Level II Inspector.
Monitor acid tank levels and schedule change-outs.
Perform daily gage audits on acid tanks.
Record all work performed in Lot Control.
Perform other duties in department as assigned by Supervision.
Keep the work area in a clean, orderly and safe working condition.
Follow all safety rules.
Comply with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
Perform all other duties assigned by supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Pay close attention to detail.
Must have good attendance record.
No written or higher warnings for quality or attendance.
Must show ability to follow detailed procedures reliably.
Able to meet daily production goals.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to be self-directed and motivated.
Capable of handling multiple tasks.
Demonstrate proficiency of applicable procedure instructions.
REQUIREMENTS:
Operator is required to pass certification test after training.
Meet or exceed defined Visual Acuity (when required).
Meet color perception standards needed in performance of job requirements (when required).
Certification and completion of written exam in accordance with applicable SOP.
Additional training to comply with applicable SOP/Certifications (when required).
