Line mechanic job description

Operate semi and/or fully-automated machinery and equipment to meet or exceed performance expectations, perform routine maintenance to keep the up-time to optimal amounts and to meet/exceed performance standards. Demonstrate team work and collaboration skills to work well with others. Utilize mechanical knowledge and abilities to maintain machinery and equipment assigned. Lead by example for others and help to find ways to improve process/procedures. Demonstrate safe work practices and follow all Schwan Cosmetics, USA policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities


Operate all machinery and equipment to meet or exceed established expectations. Primarily operates semi-automated machine(s) equipment within quality and efficient standards.


Perform routine maintenance (changing worn belts, machine/equipment components, airlines, electrical sensors, lubrication, cleaning, using safety guidelines such as lock-out/tag-out) on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal up-time and to meet/exceed performance standards..


Assist with set-up, adjustments, line clearance and change-over of fully and semi-automated machine(s)/ equipment.


Assist with trouble-shooting problems. Make repairs and perform adjustments.


Engage in housekeeping, safety, and continuous improvement projects.


Perform line operator duties including machine operations, paperwork, material movement, in-process testing, etc...


Perform other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Industrial Maintenance Certificate or equivalent knowledge and experience (including knowledge of sensors, cylinder and fiber optic switches, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatics). Must be able to speak, read/comprehend, and write in English.


Experience: Minimum of 1+ years of work experience in a production machine driven field preferred.


Other : Must complete the Bennett Mechanical Test with a 50% or higher mechanical aptitude.


Functional Competencies: Basic math, basic PC knowledge and experience, mechanical working knowledge, machine operation ability, routine maintenance, working knowledge, cooperation, listening, collaboration, communication, decision making, team work.

Under direct supervision of a qualified person, perform all types of work involved in the installation, maintenance, rearrangement, operation, removal and inspection of de-energized electrical transmission and distribution facilities. DIRECT SUPERVISION -
When a qualified person is working with/hands-on with the person performing the designated task.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISION
- When a qualified person is near the structure/equipment and is in constant visual and/or verbal contact to the person performing the designated task.

GENERAL SUPERVISION
- An employee of equal or higher classification, knowledgeable of the task at hand and not necessarily at the job site.

QUALIFIED PERSON
- Line Mechanic or Supervisor who is knowledgeable of the task or work to be performed, and is capable of performing the appropriate emergency rescue.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices.
A primary responsibility of this position will be to patrol and inspect lines using maps and drawings. Report irregularities and abnormal conditions. Use proper hand signals for line work as required Perform all right-of-way control procedures in use of transmission lines
2) Install, maintain and repair overhead lines.
Dig holes for poles, towers and anchors. Set poles, tower below-ground components, and guy anchorages. Replace or stub poles, dead or energized. Make up and install guys. Assemble tower components on the ground and in the air. Frame pole structures on the ground and in the air. Perform all right-of-way control procedures in use of transmission lines. Use proper methods to attach tools and materials to life ropes and cables, for installation or use in the air. Test and support poles before climbing as required. Operate miscellaneous transmission motor-driven tools. Select and apply proper knots. Perform rigging and tying off ropes. Use proper hand signals for line work as required.
3) Under direct supervision of a qualified person, assist in the use of live line tools, bare-hand techniques, rubber gloves and sleeves, and other accepted work methods to maintain transmission lines.
Perform climbing maintenance on all transmission structures, except on cross-arms carrying energized conductors.
4) Make up conductor and shield wire splices, dead-ends and terminals.
Identify conductor types and sizes. 2. Set up reels for conductor installation. 3. Install conductors and shield wires
5) Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion.

6) Assist employees of equal or higher classification.

7) Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees.

8) Perform similar or less skilled work.

9) Maintain records and submit reports as required.
Properly prepare right-of-way items on field drawings
10) Operate automotive equipment and its associated equipment as authorized and directed by supervision.
Operate truck-mounted lifting/pulling devices. 2. Load and unload poles, steel and other materials.
Requirements

Education :
High school graduate or GED
Experience :
Minimum of one year transmission electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as : successful completion of a one year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience, OR an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or transmission electrical power line experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Class A CDL is required

Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of Transmission Line Mechanic D and 12 months of on the job experience or the equivalent. Equivalent experience is determined at the time of the assessment and appropriate time step credit will be given. Shall qualify through demonstration , examination and performance appraisal as determined by the Company. Must demonstrate the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (Transmission Line Mechanic A) in this family. Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression, or vacate the current job classification. Must be familiar with the Company's transmission and distribution standards. Must have the ability to interpret simple blueprints, one-line diagrams, instruction manuals and construction drawings. Must have the ability to work aloft on transmission structures. Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license. Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law. Must possess the ability to deal with employees, customers and the general public in a courteous and proper manner Considerable travel and overtime may be required with this position. Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time. 50% or more travel includes per diem of $125 per day. Must successfully complete the Physical Ability Test (PAT) Must reside within 45 miles of the assigned location and will have 6 months to relocate if applicable. Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required.

The Line Mechanic position is responsible for a variety of duties including but not limited to troubleshooting, line repairs, parts replacement, completing work orders, participation in PM's, cleaning and lubricating equipment according to pre-set standards, performing teardowns and set-up of equipment. Observing all safety regulations and ensuring GMP and quality standards are met to maintain the efficient flow of production.
Compensation:
Starting pay up to $24.05per hour + $0.60 Attendance Bonus!

Job Duties:
Perform teardowns/set-ups of assigned equipment including completion of start-up checklist Clean and lubricate assigned equipment Perform Planned Maintenance (PM) on assigned equipment Compete assigned corrective/maintenance work orders Complete parts requisitions as necessary Perform code verifications on individual/masters Complete basic parts replacement (e.g., hoses, pins, etc.) Participate in production line drumbeats Make minor line adjustments Complete required reports (e.g., PM, Work Orders, Centerline, etc.) Perform all other duties as assigned by supervision.Complete BOS audits as required

Qualifications:
