Covia is looking for a dynamic Laborer who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Guion, AR location. The Operator is accountable to ensure the safe and productive operation of the wet process, drying and screening process equipment including conveyors, bucket elevators, mineral separators, screens, fans, and dryers to transfer sand through the plant to product silos while ensuring the products are within specification. 6:00pm - 6:00am Monday-Thursday (possible OT on Fridays) The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities: Safety Comply with applicable MSHA regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and procedures applying to the worker or person that are part of a safety and health management system for the mine If the worker has information that other persons need to know to fulfil their obligations or duties under the CFR, or to protect themselves from the risk of injury or illness, to give the information to the other persons Take any other reasonable and necessary course of action to ensure anyone is not exposed to an unacceptable level of risk Work or carry out the worker's activities in a way that does not expose the worker or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk Ensure, to the extent of the responsibilities and duties allocated to the worker or person, that the work and activities under the worker's control, supervision, or leadership is conducted in a way that does not expose the worker or person or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk To the extent of the worker's or person's involvement, to participate in and conform to the risk management practices of the operation Comply with instructions given for safety and health of persons by the mine operator or a supervisor at them operation Work at the operation only if the worker is in a fit condition to carry out the work without affecting the safety and health of others Not do anything willfully or recklessly that might adversely affect the safety and health of someone else at the operation Participate on the Plant Mine Rescue team as a certified member as needed Operations Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors Operate equipment in a safe manner which is most efficient and reduces downtime, and quality issues Complete required paperwork in an orderly, accurate, and professional fashion Assist with any continuous improvement projects as necessary Perform all other job duties as needed or assigned Perform pre-shift and routine equipment and area inspections; maintain safe work environments in assigned areas (Plant or Mining) Perform systematic startup of equipment such as blowers, water system, screens, conveyors, dryers and elevators, etc. Inspect equipment to ensure operating safely within parameters Operate heavy equipment once tasked trained Ensure sand flows through plant processes as appropriate Collect and process samples, record results and change operating parameters as required Check and maintain communications with production team and supervisor Maintain housekeeping in assigned area, which includes manual labor Ensure sand is dried properly through dryer(s) via gauges and visual inspection Loadout product to trucks and rail cars The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED Demonstrated experience contributing within an operations or plant team to deliver against set production, quality, and safety targets Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks Technical training in pumps, computer systems, conveyors, or similar experience given preferred Experience operating heavy equipment preferred Commitment to Our Culture Our core values - Safety, Team, Customers, Growth, and Courage-guide our work every day and will help us achieve our vision: Covia is the leading minerals solutions provider, and through the passion and commitment of our people, we enable customer success-ensuring a sustainable future for our company.
