Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Maintenance Supervisor to join our results-focused team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our maintenance team in our St. Maries North Idaho lumber mills Focus on implementing leading-edge processes, predictive maintenance strategies, and effective project management. Responsible for direct supervision of a skilled team of millwrights, electricians, PLC technicians, and PM technicians, implementing innovative maintenance practices, and ensuring the highest level of equipment reliability to support the company's operations. While this position will play a significant role in systems and process improvements, projects, and equipment upgrades, the incumbent needs to also work as the front-line supervisor. The successful candidate will have no problem getting their hands dirty. Drive employee engagement to create a high-performance maintenance team. Champion the implementation of state-of-the-art tools and technologies to enhance maintenance operations. Predictive Maintenance Develop and implement a robust predictive maintenance program to anticipate and prevent equipment failures. Utilize condition monitoring, data analysis, and other predictive maintenance techniques to optimize equipment performance. Lead the transition from reactive to proactive maintenance strategies. Partner with your Maintenance Planner to manage a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all machinery and equipment in coordination with production and operations teams. Ensure timely execution of preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability. Project Management Oversee maintenance projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and production, to execute maintenance-related projects seamlessly. Develop project plans, allocate resources, and monitor project progress, making adjustments as necessary. Documentation And Reporting Establish and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including project documentation, predictive maintenance results, and equipment histories. Generate regular reports on maintenance performance, project status, and budget adherence. Safety And Compliance Ensure that all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and company policies. In collaboration with safety specialists ensure regular safety training for maintenance personnel. Qualifications Knowledge and hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Proven experience in a leadership role. Experience within a lumber or manufacturing environment or similar preferred. In-depth knowledge of leading-edge maintenance processes, predictive maintenance techniques, and project management. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with advanced maintenance tools and technologies. Proven ability to implement change and drive continuous improvement. FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE: Independently performs the full range of diagnostic, preventive maintenance, alignment and calibration, and overhaul tasks, on both hardware and software on a variety of mail processing, customer service, and building equipment and systems, applying advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs complex testing, diagnosis, maintenance, alignments and calibration, overhaul, and revision, of electronically operated or controlled equipment or systems; may be required to perform maintenance of associated electromechanical equipment and systems. Observes the operation of systems and equipment, and applies various testing and diagnostic methods and procedures to locate and correct malfunctions and/or failures and ensures maximum system performance. Performs equipment inspections to assess the quality of service or maintenance received, and to discover incipient malfunctions; initiates work orders requesting corrective actions for equipment not meeting maintenance or operating standards; estimates time and materials necessary to make corrections and conducts investigations of frequent or serious equipment failures to determine the cause of the breakdown and to recommend remedial maintenance action. Recommends changes to servicing and preventive maintenance activities; assists in the revision of preventive maintenance and operator checklists, and their frequency to sustain the proper degree of maintenance. Performs analyses of equipment failures; reviews operational reports, audits, and other information, to determine where operational enhancement can be made to prevent equipment or systems deterioration. Participates in the installation, removal, modification, assembly, and/or disassembly of systems and equipment. Participates in classroom, on-the-job, and correspondence training programs; attends courses at postal facilities, trade schools, and manufacturers sites; assists in developing and implementing training programs; provides on-the-job training to other lower level maintenance employees. Provides technical support to other employees in the facility or in installations within the area served; performs in-process and final operational checks and tests work completed by other employees; may work without direct supervision. May drive a vehicle or use other appropriate modes of transportation in the course of assigned duties. Follows established safety practices and requirements while performing all duties; reads and adheres to instructions listed in applicable maintenance directives; maintains a library of maintenance directives. Proficient in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The position will supervise 3 Maintenance Technicians and will be responsible for taking call one week per month.
