The Maintenance Department of the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden is looking for a dynamic individual to join their team as a HVAC Head Keeper. The HVAC Head Keeper is responsible for leading and supporting the daily operations of the HVAC team, ensuring the installation, servicing, repair, and preventative maintenance of all HVAC systems across the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden's properties. This leadership role also includes hands-on responsibilities, stepping in to perform technical work as needed to support the team and maintain essential operations. As an essential team member, you will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot life support and water quality systems vital to our aquatic exhibits, helping maintain safe environments for the animals. You will work closely with colleagues to monitor and maintain water quality, collaborate with the Facilities Department, and perform repairs to ensure that all systems run efficiently. Troubleshoots water chemistry problems by recommending and adding chemicals, synthetic seawater and reclaimed seawater to tanks as needed to maintain appropriate levels and responds to life support system alarms. Collaboration & Engagement: Works closely with co-workers to monitor and maintain nitrogen cycling in new and empty tanks, ensuring all scheduled and unscheduled water changes, transfers, and tank-drop procedures are completed safely and efficiently. Provide input to head keeper and curator staff on all aspects (e.g. water quality, safety, life support systems) of the region. The Laundry Associate performs the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with company standards and current federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure that an adequate supply of laundry and linen are on hand at all times to meet the needs of residents, patients, and staff members. Essential Activities and Tasks Operations Management - 75% Performs the laundry functions, including the collection, laundering, redistribution, and inventory of linens and personal laundry, in accordance with established procedures. Presses/irons garments as instructed. Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. to residents and linen closets daily and/or as instructed. Ensures that an adequate supply of laundry and linen supplies are maintained in laundry closets to meet the needs of residents and staff members. Quality, Compliance, and Risk Management - 10% Ensures that established quality assurance, infection control, and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures. Reports any damages or repairs needing done to supervisor. Willingly and consistently shares observations and insight of departmental operations that may improve quality and efficiencies of department. Attends all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed. Customer Relations and Service Delivery - 10% Listens and responds to the needs of residents and staff members. Honors resident personal and property rights when performing laundry duties. Administration and Reporting - 5% Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Tenth grade education required. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience One year laundry experience preferred. On-the-job training provided. Other Requirements Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. The Laundry Guest Service Representative (GSR) is responsible for properly cleaning all linen and terry products used at the hotel within a given timeframe while operating and maintaining all property laundry equipment. This position is critical to ensure quality service to our guests and upholding hotel standards while working with members of the hotel team, maintaining room quality as well as the safety and security of the hotel. Duties and Responsibilities ● Using the hotel's set procedures and guidelines, follow directions thoroughly to maintain, operate, set, and clean all laundry items and equipment (i.e. correct usage of detergent and bleaches, emptying dryer lint traps, following proper load limits). ● Ability to maintain the hotel's laundry cleaning schedule to meet daily operational goals and needs. ● Maintain laundry and linen storage rooms to ensure the area has an adequate level of supplies, is organized, and is free of potential trip & fall hazards; inform management of any inventory shortages and ordering needs. ● Examine laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability, separating out linens that need repair or additional cleaning. ● Maintain positive guest relations at all times and understand guests' service needs. ● Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. ● Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions. ● Ability to exert physical effort in operating laundry equipment and transporting linen between washers and dryers (up to 50lbs) as well as endure various physical movements throughout the work areas during shifts. ● Comply with all OSHA standards. ● Provide special services for guests upon request. ● Performing self-room inspections and accepting feedback from room quality inspections performed by hotel management and trained employees. ● Cross-train in housekeeping, maintenance, and/or front desk job functions, if possible. ● Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications ● Some administrative duties required (timekeeping system, rooms' cleaned reports, etc.). ● Must maintain a professional appearance in provided uniform with a consistently friendly attitude toward guests and staff. ● Must be able to easily and frequently change from one task to another and work with minimal supervision. ● Frequent lifting and bending are required. ● May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Working Conditions Because some hotels may be exterior corridor hotels, the physical environment may require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. The position may come into contact with pets. The employee is required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous chemicals/materials. Regularly scheduled hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules vary based on business needs. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
