The Role

As a Linux Engineer you will streamline and secure our internal facing applications, storage, and physical server environment. You are an analytical thinker who enjoys troubleshooting issues and finding creative technical solutions. You will make data-driven decisions ensuring that we build systems that resolve and proactively address common issues before they impact end users. You automate yourself out of mundane tasks to focus on making a larger impact. You have strong customer service skills and a customer-driven mindset.

Core Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain core services and infrastructure used by Palantir.Ensure compliance of current Information Assurance (IA) policies, concepts, and measures when designing, procuring, adopting, and developing new ISConfiguring and maintaining services across different Linux systems.Automate vulnerability and security patching.Think about systems - their edge cases, failure modes, and life cycles - and how to improve the long-term reliability and scalability of services offered to end users Help debug, improve, and optimize services/infrastructure.
What We ValueConfidence in troubleshooting complex systems issues independently using observability tools and stack traces.Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, and willingness to continuously learn and drive improvements across teams Coding/scripting fluency in at least one language, and a commitment to automating solutions.Experience with information security frameworks such as device encryption, anti-virus tooling, digital certificates, security policies etc. Familiarity with fundamentals such as DNS, DHCP, firewall, VPN, and PKI.Familiarity with DISA STIGsComfortable with modern configuration management tooling (Chef, Puppet, PowerShell DSC, ansible) Experience with VMWare, NetApp, Redhat Enterprise Linux, and Atlassian products that we support a plus.

Job DescriptionLinux Engineer
Anaheim, CA (Remote)
12 month contract

Immediate hire with growing company. Successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting company hardware at client sites. Will be responsible for PC architecture, installing, configuring, troubleshooting and repairing x86 based hardware. Will be responsible for backup and recovery design and management. Will be responsible for reading and modifying XML.

Required Skills:

• Linux engineer (preferably Redhat), install and configuration of mail services, firewalls, LDAP, ssl, networks using rpm or yum commands. Scripting preferable.
• Active Directory principles, including: group policy object creation, management, and troubleshooting; AD OUs and security groups; domain authentication, nesting, and trusts.
• Windows OS installation and cloning; customization, configuration, and troubleshooting; and mass-deployment techniques.
• Database installation and patching of Oracle/Postgres, ability to write/run SQL queries.
• Familiarity with cloud provisioning in Azure.
• Intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP: addressing, routing, troubleshooting IP port availability and connectivity, familiarity with default application IP ports.
• Basic knowledge of gateways, firewalls, and routers, and how to troubleshoot connectivity problems.
• Server hardware knowledge and troubleshooting skills a plus, including RAID configurations, partitioning, and general knowledge of system redundancy and failover architectures that achieve 'high availability' status.
• Virtual server implementation and management experience a plus.
• Superior technical writing ability.
• Ability to travel and spend extended time in project locations.

Qualifications:

• Needs someone with a ton of container experience, Podman and Docker.
• Linux Engineer, but focus is around container engineer, running docker or Podman as a service, security around containerization.
• Network, firewalls.
• Docker is a must, may replace it with Podman Experience with both is ideal.
