intelligent & resourceful staff, hybrid, close to home, great CEO, collaboration, creative nature of employees due to product, some flexibility around family/personal emergencies
low pay, piss-poor middle management, shrinking benefits, different rules for every person, playing favorites, employees are ignored, overworked, and underpaid, and HR actively works to make things worse.
free yarn from donation bin (used to be a LOT more but they moved warehouse, now less yarn available AND upper management didn't account for cost of shipping product quickly if needed (and trust, it's needed).
CEO is incredibly thoughtful, kind, and fun to work with. very intelligent and excited about his team; values people
TRAIN. YOUR. MANAGERS. promoting from within is good but not if someone doesn't know how to manage people. allow full-time WFH as desired; not everyone needs to be in office; makes no sense. allow "skip meetings" and staff feedback to go up the chain, not just down it. CMO and HR are nightmares for company culture. Learn how to manage people, not just business.
long-time fan of Lion Brand Yarn; my grandmother taught me to crochet using Hometown. read up on company via their website, compared them to other yarn companies both in terms of product and online presence (website) to see gaps and offer suggestions on improvements.
LOW. EXTREMELY LOW.
on Juneteenth in 2023 they shared a post on their linkedin implying that offices were closed in honor of the holiday. THEY WERE NOT CLOSED. that says enough, I think, but just to be clear: diversity doesn't matter to them unless they get credit for it.
the people.
