Destination Monro -Your Career is Here! Job Description About The Role: The General Service Technician role is full time or part-time and is an hourly position based on needs of the business. The General Service Technician is responsible for performing basic routine vehicle repair and maintenance services in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications. This position is expected to deliver exceptional 5 Star service to our guests, through effective communication of vehicle issues and proposed solutions while ensuring that guest expectations for time commitments and quality are consistently met. Salary Range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour - based on experience. This role is eligible for addition compensation and incentives. Responsibilities: • Accurately perform basic vehicle services and repairs effectively and efficiently in accordance with Monro standards of operation. • Tire Services - perform wheel removal, balancing, patch/plug repairs, changing, mounting, installation and TPMS service and repair. • Vehicle Services - perform lubrications, oil changes, basic maintenance (e.g.: bulb, wiper blade and filter replacements, etc.), battery testing and installations. • Consistently complete Monro's Courtesy Inspection process, on every guest vehicle, identifying, documenting, and communicating additional needed services and repairs. • Assist in inventory management to include pulling tires and parts, unloading and stocking inventory. Qualifications Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. • Automotive training including basic car maintenance and repair or the equivalent combination of education and experience. • Must possess a current valid driver's license and have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and have the ability to operate customer's vehicles to conduct test drives. • Required to own a basic set of tools or participate in Monro's tool purchase program. Profile Summary: • Ability to take initiative in identifying problems, collecting data, and establishing facts to make practical decisions and recommend solutions. • Strong customer service skills • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical issues and write routine reports. Work Environment & Physical Requirements: This job operates in an automotive shop environment. The job will have exposure to a moderate noise level, adverse weather conditions, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. General Service Technicians must be able to complete the following but not limited to: • Ability to work flexible hours, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. • Must be able to see, and lift, carry and stock merchandise and supplies up to 50 lbs. without assistance. • Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time. • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting. Our VANCOUVER location is looking for Accessory Installers. When cars are manufactured, they make an additional stop to us for accessories. You would be adding things like trailer hitches, roof racks, navigation systems, all the way down to the floor mats. We do train on each install before we move you on to the next one. You do not have to be a mechanic to do this position. If you know how to perform tasks like changing oil, headlights, brakes, etc. we want to talk to you! It is more about attitude! List of Responsibilities/Main Functions Conduct PDI process as designated. Coordinate defective parts with Lead or designated party. Drive and park car in designated working areas, may drive cars up car ramps for preparation of accessory placement or application of decals or through roof rack station or through mechanical pit Ensure accessories are installed on designated units. Follow safety guidelines and attend safety meetings. Inspect finished products being processed incoming materials, parts, and assemblies, etc., for conformance to company standards. Insure accessories are installed on designated units. Keep Leads, Managers and others informed of significant issues. Knowledge and application of Accessory II installation and processes. Knowledge of and perform installation of various light to medium accessories using hand tools and power tools. Lay out and assemble accessory parts. Log processed work into computer program or tracking system as required. Meet or exceed established production and quality standards. Performs job in a safe manner. Read accessory instructions to insure that all correct accessories are installed according to correct specifications and working properly, knowledge of accessory installations. Responsible for installation of various factory accessories, using a variety of air, power, and hand tools. Select proper units to be accessorized as directed by Lead. Train others associates on installations. Use various tools to do mechanical repairs or installations on various factory installs. Visually verifies that vehicle is damage free. Work as part of a team. Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Attend meetings as required. Daily clean up. Keep tools maintained and secure. May remove wrap guard from vehicle exterior. Notify supervisor of any workplace hazards or unsafe conditions. Participate in facility safety efforts by attending monthly safety meetings, report accidents and injuries on appropriate forms, and communicates the procedure to all appropriate customers/vendors and AWC personnel. Read, understand, and utilize VIN numbers, repair orders, purchase orders, purge sheets, and other documents to complete work. Understand policies, including but not limited to company safety policies. Upkeep and maintenance of work area. Work with limited supervision. Other duties assigned. Minimum Requirements: · Must be 18 years of age or older · Must be able to work in ALL weather conditions · Must be able to operate electric tools with good hand dexterity · 12th Grade Reading and writing skills · Must have experience working with tools · VALID Driver's license · Must be able to drive a stick-shift/manual vehicle · Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds. · Mechanically inclined, prefer previous mechanic/body modification experience · Ability to work OT · Must love to work on cars doing installations. · Must be able to work with vehicle fluids such as oil.
