Kean Miller is seeking an Energy and Environmental Litigation Partnership Track Associate to work in our Baton Rouge office.
Candidates should have a minimum of two (2) years' litigation experience. Candidates should also have excellent academic credentials, strong writing skills, and excellent references. Candidates must demonstrate the ability and the desire to interact directly with Kean Miller's clients and to further develop client and referral relationships. The successful candidate should have a track record of high achievement, the desire to work in a fast-paced challenging environment and the ability to work as part of a team. Candidates should be able to independently manage a caseload from beginning to end, regularly handle court appearances and depositions, take the lead with client communication, and provide meaningful updates. A current state bar license is required, but attorneys licensed outside Louisiana who desire to move back to the state and practice in Baton Rouge are invited to apply.

The Louisiana Board of Ethics is seeking an attorney to serve as legal counsel to the Louisiana Board of Ethics by providing advisory opinions, assisting with litigation and enforcement actions, interpreting ethics and disclosure laws, and educating public officials, employees, and the general public on compliance requirements.
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law.

* Attend Board of Ethics meetings and, under the supervision of a higher-level attorney, present requests for advisory opinions, investigation reports, and staff reports.
* Provide legal advice on the interpretation and application of the Code of Governmental Ethics, Campaign Finance Disclosure Act, Lobbyist Disclosure Acts, and conflict of interest provisions of the gaming laws.
* Prepare legal documents including advisory opinions, consent opinions, charges, and general correspondence.
* Represent and assist with litigation on behalf of the Board of Ethics, including administrative hearings, court appearances, legal research, and preparation of subpoenas and legal pleadings.
* Provide guidance to the public, elected officials, and public employees on ethics laws and disclosure requirements; advise on filing of advisory opinion requests and complaints.
* Deliver educational speeches and seminars to explain ethics laws and disclosure requirements.
* Handle enforcement litigation for noncompliance with campaign finance, lobbyist, and financial disclosure reporting requirements, including legal pleadings, hearing preparation, settlement negotiations, and court appearances.
* Review disclosure reports and records to determine compliance with applicable ethics and disclosure laws.

Compensation:
* This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $27.08/hour.
* This position is eligible for retention pay of up to $1.00 per hour for each hour worked.
