RC4 is a state agency which functions in dependency and termination of parental rights proceedings in juvenile court as a public defender's office for parents who are unable to afford private counsel. Our clients face the removal of their children due to concerns of abuse and neglect amid a myriad of issues commonly intertwined with the circumstances of poverty, including domestic violence, substance use disorder, mental health, and housing instability. Candidates must be willing to embrace the agency's assertive, client-centered representation model and orientation to proactive litigation and taking cases to trial. Trial advocacy coursework and public defender/indigent defense office internships preferred. The positions require extensive court appearances and daily client contact.
