The APP will collaborate closely with attending surgeons, surgical residents, of the ACS &CC care team to deliver high-quality care to surgical patients. Primary Responsibilities: * Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider * Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers * Perform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service line * Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED * Deliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are "boarded" in the ED * Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations. * Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged * Respond to Emergency Department ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluations * Document all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) * Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members * Effectively partner with other members of the ACS & CC team (surgeons, APP, residents, medical students) * Weekday or Weekend Shifts * Conduct one quality improvement project annually * Support the mission of education, research and quality * Contribute to care team meetings Qualifications: * Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program. * Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA or ANCC/AANP). * BLS and ACLS certifications required. * Willing to audit or ATLS certified * 1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred. * Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
