Objectives of this role: The role of the Occupational NP or PA is a multi-faceted and diverse one, as these advanced nursing professionals serve as healthcare providers, safety inspectors, educators, and architects of new health and safety measures and programs. Provide treatment and physicals, to sick or injured patients. Document and report observations and any treatment provided.
Responsibilities:
Take pertinent histories and perform examinations relevant to patient complaint and presentation along with performing routine human resource functions such as physicals, return to work, and fitness for duty evaluations.
Order and interpret results of routine laboratory tests, including CBC's, Blood chemistries, UA's and any other pertinent diagnostic labs deemed necessary for evaluation.
Order and interpret routine radiological studies, pulmonary function tests and audiograms.
Establish medical diagnoses and determine a plan of care and treatment.
Refer patients for appropriate follow up care when indicated.
Deliver and document all aspects of patient care according to standards set forth by Prime Occupational Medicine
Provide patient healthcare teaching and counseling relevant to presenting problems.
Document discharge instructions and summarization.
Other clinical services deemed to be appropriate for the services of the patients under the NP's care, within the NP's scope of practice.
The APP will practice with the supervision of an approved SP, which involves either being on site or readily available via telecommunications

The nature of the duties is to provide patient care in a hospital setting in support of a supervising physician. The PA/NP treats patients in a caring, warm and professional manner.
Functions independently in the hospital setting and at times in the absence of the supervising physician. These PA/NP functions are at the discretion of the supervising physician and BROC policy.
Assists the supervising physician with hospital visits which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Obtains patient history
Performs physical examination on the patient
Orders imaging and lab studies as appropriate
Dictates visit notes
Prescribes medication, orthotics, braces, and other orthopedic devices as necessary
Formulates a diagnosis
Formulates a plan of care
Schedules surgical procedures
Applies/removes casts
Performs injections/aspirations
Coordinates with Attending Physician on call for point of care.
Hospital duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists the supervising physician with performing the initial evaluation and management of patients in the Emergency Department
Assists the supervising physician with performing inpatient daily rounds
Assists the supervising physician with performing floor and emergency department consults; and, assist the supervising physician with performing inpatient chart documentation, signatures, updates, discharge summaries, etc.
Understands and follows all OSHA and HIPAA rules at all times.
Performs other related duties as assigned and serves in whatever other capacity deemed necessary for successful completion of the mission and goals of BROC.
Patient Care
Provides direct patient care management to high acuity patients including performing histories and physicals, admits, and discharges; related to the care of specialty patients focusing on the maintenance, achievement, and restoration of optimal functions of patients.
Performs individual rounds on all inpatients, MET patients. Evaluates with Attending Physician providing documentation of medical finds and plan of care.
The PA/NP will visit patients prior to surgery, conduct discharge teaching afterwards, and prescribe medications as appropriate, including narcotics.
Provides routine Medical Management of inpatient care such as ordering diagnostic tests, labs, x-rays, nutrition, and medications.
Partnership and Collaboration
Plans, implements and evaluates nursing medical care consistent with medical treatment and care in collaboration with physicians. Additionally, the PA/NP will initiate or modify medical treatment within an established plan of medical protocol.
The PA/NP will assist with consults, write orders, coordinate with consulting physicians, and accompany physicians on rounds.
The PA/NP will analyze clinical data; order and/or perform necessary diagnostic tests or procedures; develop, implement, and evaluate the therapeutic regimen.
Under the direction of the Attending Physician, conducts minor procedures as needed including insertion and removal of central venous catheters, chest tubes, indwelling venous and arterial catheters, venous punctures, arterial punctures, nasogastric tubes, bladder catheters, lumbar punctures, endotracheal intubations, PIC lines, and bedside ultrasonography.
Adheres to mutually agreed upon Clinical Practice Guidelines and scope of practice with supervising physician.
The PA/NP will teach and provide support for patients and their families; minimize fragmentation by providing coordination of care; manage transition of the patient to step-down units or to out-patient settings; and serve as patient advocates.
The PA/NP will also participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate treatment plans to the physician, nursing staff and patient families.
The Criteria for Hospital Setting
Patients of this role are of higher acuity in a specialized area.
PA/NP is on call and simultaneously manages multiple medical tasks and processes;
PA/NP conducts hospital rounds and medical management of the patient;
PA/NP assists attending physicians with procedures and initiates appropriate emergency care in lieu of Attending Physician.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner degree from accredited college.
Current, valid, and unrestricted state license.
Obtain and maintain Board Certification through NCCPA/AANP.
Prior experience as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is desired.
Good communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Ability to learn computerized medical office systems.
Must maintain credentialing requirements at hospitals and surgical facilities as requested by supervising physician.
Maintain ability to participate in all federal, state, and commercial payors and insurance programs as designated by BROC.
Maintain ability to procure insurance against claims alleging acts of malpractice or substandard care.

Summary
The Direct Care Staff (DCS) is responsible for providing care to clients with neurological injuries, impairments, functional limitations, and/or disabilities, following the established care plan with all aspects of their daily living in both residential and community settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist clients with personal care needs in accordance with the care plan and qualifications.
Completes health checks, documentation, and communicates in an effective and timely manner to program leadership (ex. Program director, manager).
Contributes to the development of care plans for clients.
Oversee and participate in any prescribed rehabilitation exercises.
Work collaboratively with all team members and leadership.
Assist clients with light housekeeping, laundry and linen change.
Assist clients with bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, lifting and transferring.
Provide transportation to clients as required including appointments, shopping, community outings, etc.
Follow all medication procedures as established in the care plan, ensuring proper dispensing and dosages.
Assist with reporting, charting and other administrative/clerical tasks.
Oversee any required rehabilitation exercises.
Assist in maintaining all necessary supplies for client needs, i.e. grooming supplies, household cleaning supplies, and items needed for staff job duties.
Run errands as needed (grocery shopping, pharmacy, etc.).

Work collaboratively with other members of the team.
Complete all required trainings & attend monthly staff meetings
Ensure health and safety of the clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Qualifications:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with favorable driving record. CPR/First Aid Certification.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Medical terminology, anatomy, physiology.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six months to one year of experience in direct care, caregiving, medial assisting and/or CNA experience is preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Compassion, Team Oriented, Critical Thinking, Decision Making Skills, Client Confidentiality, Interpersonal Skills, Work Independently, Phone Etiquette, Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Client Care, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Work Collectively as Part of the Care Team.

FINGER DEXTERITY: The employee is regularly required to use fingers to handle objects and operate a computer.
AVERAGE VISION: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
