As a Home Health Aide supporting the Redstone mission will include the following responsibilities:
Provide psychosocial support and personal care to the client, including bathing (tub, shower, sponge, or bed bath), oral hygiene, hair care, shampooing, shaving, skin care, nail care, foot care, and dressing.
Assist client with mobility, including walking, transferring, turning, and positioning including the use of transfer devices such as the Hoyer lift and transfer board. Assist client with prescribed exercises to which the client and the aide have been trained.
Assisting to the toilet and incontinence care including assistance with urinal, bedside commode, toilet use and bedpan.
Plan, shop, prepare, or assist with nutritious meals and prescribed diets; includes cleanup of kitchen area.
Assist clients to self-administer-medications. Verbally prompt or assist clients to respond to electronic medication reminder systems.
Provide homemaking services, such as bed making, light housework, laundering, and errand running with client/family's agreement.

Responsibilities
Provide personal hygiene assistance for elderly patients or those recovering from surgeries, injuries or accidents by attending to their basic needs, such as showering, bathing, dressing and eating
Remind clients to take prescribed medication and assist clients with ambulation
Help with mobility around the house or outside (doctor's appointments, walks etc.)
Assist with personal care and hygiene, plan and prepare meals and help with physical therapy exercises
Complete client's shopping or accompany them to successfully do so
Perform housekeeping duties and report any unusual incidents
Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Offer activities that are essential for daily living by assisting patients with their meals, including serving and other tasks, if necessary
Qualifications
Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting, eager to improve and continuously learn new skills
Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodations
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation every single day
Validated ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner
Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends
Prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment (minimum of 1 year - preferred)

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]
Required Qualifications/Experience
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Completion of a Nurse Aide Program.
* Effective May 18, 2017 - must have attended at a minimum outside training program consisting of classroom and supervised practicum of a minimum of 75 hours (A minimum of 16 hours of classroom training must precede a minimum of 16 hours of supervised practical training as part of the 75 hours).
* One-year experience as a nurse aide/assistant in a healthcare facility or as a home health aide in a home care/hospice agency.
* Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
* Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
* Nurse Aide Certification.
* Certification as Hospice/Palliative Care Nurse Aide; Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
* Experience in Healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
* Act 33 with renewal
* Act 34 with renewal
* Act 73 FBI Clearance
* Valid Driver's License (if out of state hire, the record report from applicable state driver's license department is required)
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
* Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
* Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
