THE ROLE
A Music Hall Cocktail Server will be responsible for using interpersonal skills to anticipate guest needs, upsell food and beverage and provide exceptional customer service to guests within the high volume, fast paced concert hall environment.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
* Maintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area during shift
* Follow House of Blues safety, health, and sanitation standards
* Assist other employees as needed
* Follow opening and closing procedures, checking out with manager on duty
* Adhere to all HOB policies and procedures
* Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance and HOB alcohol policies
* Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age
* Recognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager
* Cash handling; bank procedures (cash pull/check out) and payment processing (on point of sales terminal) for both cash and/or credit transactions
* Required to occasionally work special events scheduled within the venue
* Interact with guests in a natural, friendly demeanor cultivating repeat business
* Suggestively sell menu items to guests
* Take and deliver food and beverage orders promptly, maneuvering trays through large crowds
* Prioritize and organize drink orders
* Clean spills, remove food, trash or other obstacles from tables/floor using proper lifting techniques
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
Required:

* Experience in a in high volume, fast paced live music environment
* Experience recognizing valid ID's
* Cash handling experience
* Beer, Wine & Liquor knowledge, current with latest drink trends
* Point of Sales knowledge, preferably MICROS
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
* Willing to commute to downtown area (discounted $7 parking available daily)
* Working environment is fast paced, can be hot, and/or loud
* Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing and/or working on your feet

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure the bars are set up for the shift, cleaned and stocked.
Takes beverage orders from the customers and servers and ensures all drinks are rung in before any are prepared.
Follows the standard drink recipes, using the proper glassware and portions.
Adheres to all the laws pertaining to the serving of alcoholic beverages and dealing with guests.
Intoxicated persons must never be served.

Requirements

Cocktail Servers are vital to the success of Victory Casino Cruises. Aim for friendliness, politeness and cleanliness to ensure satisfaction. Each guest should leave feeling like a winner regardless of their gambling success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Servers set up trays with beverage napkins and straws.
Stock the Servers side of assigned bar with cups, straws and napkins. Set up coffee station (stock cups, creamers, sweeteners, and straws). Break person sets up coffee stations in Club V and the old VIP room.
One Server must report to Bar 1 prior to guest boarding.
All Servers are to report to greeting line approximately five (5) minutes before guest boarding. Upon arrival of guests, greet guests with a SMILE. Make sure to clap and welcome our guests.
Report to assigned station upon Captain making the five (5) minute announcement for gaming to begin. During gaming, guests are entitled to complimentary beverages while they are gambling. Guests MUST actually be gambling to receive complimentary beverages. Ensure proper POS procedures are used for ringing drinks and use proper category for comping items, i.e., table, slot and/or premium-promo comps. Any comped premium beverages or bottled beers MUST be approved by Casino Managers. Keep all tickets to turn in at end of shift.

Follow all health department safe food handling procedures.
Upon conclusion of gaming, run financial report and provide to Manager or Supervisor, along with any cash received and tickets.
All servers are to remove trash and debris from section. Clean areas with sanitation cloth, if needed and pick up all ashtrays, including in the casino pits and in between slot machines.
Empty and clean all ashtrays. Clean all straws, fruit and any other debris from the “dump” sink. Clean and sanitize sink.
Servers must clean their serving tray at the end of the shift.
Wipe down coffee machine, walls on server side of bar (to ensure no spills and splashes), counters and any other surface needed.
Management may assign a server to perform a final sweep to ensure all side work has been completed properly.
Servers tip out 20% of their gratuities to their bartender at the end of their shift.
All Servers must meet on the Main Deck for F&B Manager or Supervisor before clocking out.
Performs other related duties as requested by the Supervisors or Food & Beverage Manager.
The use of personal items including, but not limited to, books, any form of electronic device and/or cell phone is prohibited. These items are permitted to be used in the employee area during the employees allotted break time. Some exceptions may apply. See Manager or Supervisor for approval.

The Host at LA Times Studios serves as the on-camera voice of key news coverage, helping bolster LA Times journalism into engaging digital video content under the supervision/direction of the Director of Programming. Working at the intersection of editorial and production, this role is responsible for introducing, contextualizing, and connecting top stories across platforms in a way that's both accessible and authoritative via your own intuition, and direction from your manager. The Host collaborates closely with newsroom and studio teams to shape new formats and brings clarity and continuity to the audience experience.
Responsibilities:
Act as the on-camera host for news segments that pull from the Company website for our headlines show.
Introduce and provide continuity for key news beats, helping contextualize and connect major stories in an on-camera capacity.
Collaborate with journalists and editors to develop story angles that reflect and empower newsroom priorities.
Translate complex topics into clear, compelling content for digital video and social media. Represent the Company's integrity with on-camera presence, tone, and delivery.
Help shape and evolve show formats. Participate in brainstorms, editorial meetings, and long-term planning with the studio and newsroom.
Conduct interviews with reporters, experts, and newsmakers to enhance storytelling and provide deeper insights on key topics.
Write or contribute to scripts, intros, outros, and voiceover segments in alignment with editorial standards.
Collaborate with producers, directors, and editors to ensure visuals, graphics, and storytelling elements align with the host's delivery.
Engage with audiences through live streams, Q&As, and social media appearances, helping extend the reach of LA Times journalism.
Stay informed on current events, trends, and audience interests to maintain credibility and relevance in coverage.
Participate in rehearsals, voice coaching, and feedback sessions to refine on-camera presence and performance as needed.
Contribute ideas for audience growth, show promotion, and distribution strategies across platforms.
Occasionally, represent the Company at public events, panels, or media appearances as a face of the brand.
Perform for special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
3+ years of on-camera experience as a show host, anchor, reporter, or multimedia journalist, preferably in a live or digital broadcast environment.
Strong news judgment and familiarity with current events, politics, culture, and local news.
Proven ability to synthesize newsroom content into compelling, viewer-friendly formats.
Comfortable delivering content in live, pre-recorded, scripted, and unscripted formats.
Outstanding verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics clearly, confidently, and authentically.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Proficiency in adobe creative cloud products (Premiere / Photoshop / Audition)
Comfortable adopting and utilizing AI tools to support show development, and production workflows.
Working knowledge of CMS platforms and digital publishing best practices
Work may include weekends and holidays as news breaks.
Must be flexible to travel on short notice on occasion.
Must be able to receive and process feedback and consistently seek to improve and elevate as an on-camera talent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in journalism or editorial production.
Experience working in a hybrid video-newsroom setting.
Familiarity with broadcast, podcast, or streaming environments.
Strong presence on social media or other public-facing platforms.
