The Aviation School of the Lively Technical Center in Tallahassee, Florida, upholds Lively's long-heralded tradition of training aircraft mechanics in preparation for a successful career in aviation maintenance. Instruction in the program is provided by professional aviation maintenance technicians, ensuring that students receive the training necessary for a career. Academics offered at the school include training for a certificate in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Once students complete their training, they will be prepared to take the Federal Aviation Administration exams and demonstrate the necessary skills and abilities to an FAA Designated Maintenance Examiner. If satisfactory, this examiner will then issue an Airframe and Power Plant Mechanics certification. Upon successful completion of the program and receipt of an A&P certification, graduates will be trained to work in all segments of the aviation repair industry, including airline, corporate and private fields. To enroll in the Aviation School, you must first enroll at the Lively Technical Center. Admissions require that students submit an official high school transcript or GED. Students must take the Test of Adult Basic Education if they do not provide acceptable proofs of assessment. Tuition is set lower for Florida residents. Students must also pay for aviation kits and power plant kits. To be considered for financial aid, students must file a FAFSA.
