LMC Manufacturing company history timeline

1966

In 1966, Wilhelm Saure from Herdecke acquired Austermann in Sassenberg, which had since enjoyed success with its legendary Knospe. “Wilhelm Saure KG” was founded.

1970

Until 1970, the expansion of operations on Drostenstraße in Sassenberg resulted in further growth.

1974

Due to the rapid growth in orders until 1974, much of the production was handled in cooperation with Karmann in Rheine.

1978

In 1978, additional facilities were built in Warendorf in order to produce motorhomes.

1985

1985 saw widespread success with the Münsterland, Luxus, Münsterland-Dominant, Lord and Lord Exquisit model ranges.

1986

From 1986, Liberty motorhomes (alcoves) were built.

1991

In 1991, the company was acquired by Erwin Hymer.

1993

From 1993, LMC built caravans for T.E.C.

2001

In 2001, the events of 9/11 created havoc for the US economy and many small manufacturing companies simply could not survive the downturn.

2002

So, in September 2002, LMC, AB, was founded and located in Lidkoping, Sweden.

2003

So, in August, 2003, LMC moved its machine design and manufacturing division to 630 Enterprise Drive in DeKalb, and APM took over the entire Wurlitizer facility.

2005

In 2005, LMC started making alcoves and semi-integrated motorhomes on the Ford Transit chassis.

But in early 2005, based on a need for even more space to grow its machine business, LMC, Inc., purchased the building with plans to become the sole occupant.

2010

LMC Manufacturing Company was incorporated on January 1, 2010 and is now LMC Manufacturing Corporation.

In 2010 as the company continued to grow and relocated to its current 4000 square foot facility on Central Drive.

2018

KG celebrated “60 years of passion for caravanning!" While the Sassenberg site celebrated the grand opening of its factory extension in 2018.
