As a member of the Operations team, offering to help others when the workload demands, treating teammates with respect and care and performing work in a safe manner according to safety policies and procedures is critical. We are currently looking for a Material handler to join our Kansas City Operations team.
* 1st Shift hours are from 7:30am CST till work is finished for the day.
* Hourly Pay rate is $22.00/hour + Full time benefits
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Unload common carrier trucks and railroad cars and replenish product in the designated location in the warehouse.
* Pick orders using a forklift until the order is completely filled.
* Report any problems such as shortages or damaged material, etc.
* Inquire with sales team member when orders cannot be shipped as ordered and make changes as directed by sales.
* Use handheld scanner when receiving product, picking orders, loading trucks and cycle counting in accordance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes.
* Collaborate with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Coordinator on questions and updates.
* Band, wrap and prepare material for safe shipping.
* Arrange orders on trucks according to safe weight distribution practices.
* Follow safety procedures and policies when performing warehouse duties.
Performance of Miscellaneous Functions
* Fill orders for incoming customers.
* Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning warehouses/yard.
* Inspect the forklift prior to daily operation to avoid equipment problems and malfunctions in accordance with OSHA regulations.
* Cross train and back-up others in warehouse.
* Personal Attributes and Skills
* Strong initiative, self-starter with a continuous-improvement mindset
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a cross-functional team environment.
* Working knowledge and techniques associated with organizing and setting priorities.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma
* 1-2 years warehouse experience required with some experience in a distributorship preferred.
