Cardinal Staffing is currently looking for an attendance minded Material Handler/General Laborer for our client in Romulus, MI! This position requires the candidate to prepare steel wire and rod coils using bolt cutters and banding shears, prepare surfaces by power-washing, drive a Hi-Lo to move steel coils, and interact with department coworkers while following all safety and quality guidelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Remove steel strapping from coiled rod and prepare surface for cleaning and coating line by means of power-washer when necessary.
Maintain inventory by identifying, verifying, and labeling. Record production and location of inventory into the production computer system.
Orderly distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed.
Contribute to the orderly stocking of materials into storage areas.
Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections.
Operate forklift to move materials.
Keep work areas and machinery clean.
Adhere to all workplace safety regulations and quality guidelines.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory.
Experience in the steel industry preferred.
Physical ability to maneuver up to 50 pounds.
Ability to read and follow written or verbal instructions.
Ability to keep neat and accurate records.
Ability to drive and operate an industrial fork truck.
Must demonstrate good attendance and be willing to work overtime as needed.

Drive 26ft box truck in order to transport materials.
Load and unload delivery trucks using pallet jack, power jack and forklift.
Check incoming and outgoing materials against shippers to verify quantity and quality. Count, weigh, and record quantity of raw, in process, or finished materials.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental conditions:
Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
Ability to work in a confined area.
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
Work involves lifting, pulling, pushing and transporting work materials with weights up to 70 pounds between above shoulder and ground level.
