CNB is looking for a qualified, motivated, and client- and team-focused individual to join our team as a Consumer Lender - Underwriter, for our Main Office in Hillsdale, Michigan. This position will be ON-SITE in Hillsdale.
JOB SUMMARY
Underwrites and evaluates consumer loan applications and documentation to determine credit worthiness. Approves or rejects loan requests within loan approval limits. Assists branch managers/officers in qualifying loan applications while adhering to all underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures.
DUTIES
Provides underwriting decision following guidelines (1st review) within 48 hours of file being submitted to the underwriting queue.
Completes 2nd review within 48 hours of submission and processes Adverse Actions (Denied/Withdrawn files), when necessary.
Validates loans to loan policy and guidelines, as well as getting the needed approvals.
Assists loan originator with:
Getting a credit analysis to do a self-employed income analysis and determining the qualifying income for self-employed borrowers
Pre-approving borrowers
Answering any questions branch managers may have
Prepares and mails adverse action notices for loans that are denied or withdrawn, and for incomplete files.
Verifies and inputs information in the LOS system and submits the loan for Processing.
Provides underwriting checklist.
Reviews, analyzes, and approves or denies Indirect applications.
Maintains and protects confidentiality of customer information.
Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
Remains current in assigned training (online, video, in-house emails, telephone seminars, etc.)
Manages and maintains portfolio past due activity (in cooperation with Loss Mitigation) and maturing loans.
Stays abreast of competition products and pricing.
Visits and maintains indirect relationships.
Assists with the annual high-risk HELOC reviews and with real estate loans in non-accrual status.
Obtains all signed disclosures and loan documentation as required in order to deliver a complete package to the Loan Processors in a timely manner.
Provides training for new users of lending software.
Provides training to new consumer loan and branch staff concerning consumer lending policies and procedures.
Seeks solutions to create efficiencies, improve products and increase revenue.
Complies with all regulatory requirements including Bank Secrecy Act and all others specific to their position.
Performs other various duties as assigned.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS - INTERNAL
Works closely with all loan personnel, tellers and other staff members to help solve various issues.
Communicates on a regular basis with AVP- Retail Lending Officer and all loan staff.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS - EXTERNAL
Daily contact with personnel at various outside offices and sometimes with new/existing clients.
Communicates on a regular basis with vendors for insurance products.
Communicates with indirect dealer partners.

Minimum of Associate's degree in Business/Finance; Bachelor's preferred.
