    We are seeking a Community Home Loan Originator for the NOLA Home Loan Origination Department. The primary responsibility of the Community Home Loan Originator is to act as the single point of contact for the member or potential borrowers through the home loan process establishing an exceptional member experience. They will proactively solicit new residential home loans that meet established loan quality and production goals while helping members or potential borrowers find the loan that best fits their financial needs. This will be achieved through developing and expanding relationships with builders, contractors, financial planners and their personal network. They will also work with large community groups, non-profits and our Financial Health Centers within the communities we serve. If you have sales and lending experience, you should apply right away! The Mortgage Loan Originator is also responsible for developing new business in their regional area. Primary and Essential Functions * Leads and supports Strengthening HOPE Initiative that values an organizational culture for open communication, innovation, associate engagement and other traits that contribute to collaboration and high performance. * Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process. This includes, but is not limited to, initial review of pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements and credit bureaus. * Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans with the ability of setting reasonable expectations of outcomes. * Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services. * Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other applicable financial information to determine eligibility for loan approval. * Review and update credit and loan files. * Review loan agreements/sales contracts to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy. * Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them. * Confer with underwriters/processors to aid in resolving mortgage application problems. * Market bank products to individuals and firms, promoting and cross-selling bank services that meet customers' needs. * Develop relationships with realtors, builders and community organizations that aligns with Hope's mission. * Ensure all feedback is communicated with the borrower in a timely manner * Required to meet minimum quarterly/annual production goals. The goals will be set annually and will be at the beginning of each year and reiterated monthly. If the goals are not met, MLO may be subject to disciplinary action. * Supports mortgage department by working on team-based opportunities to continue to develop new products to meet member needs and mission of Hope. Secondary Functions * Perform general administrative duties such as attending meetings, report production, etc. * Work with other departments when needed on projects related to the mission of HOPE. * Represent HOPE at functions. * Develop and maintain referral sources. Takes a very complete application and collects all required documentation (such as income tax return, bank account number, purchase agreement, and property description, etc.) for verification. Delivers all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner. Prepares the borrower(s) for the process and keeps ALL of the parties involves in the process, up to date on all important developments and current status of application. Informs applicant of closing costs such as appraisal, credit report, and notary fees. Coordinates the closing with the borrower(s), closing agents, Realtors, and others involved in the transaction. Develops and maintains referral networks of Bank associates and external referral sources such as Realtors, Builders, friends, family, and others in the community. Interviews loan applicants to document income, debt, and credit history. Determines if applicant meets establishment standards for further consideration. Answers applicant's questions and asks for signature on information authorization forms. Submits application forms to Mortgage Loan Processor for verification of application information. Calls applicant or other persons to resolve discrepancies, such as credit report showing late payment history. Informs applicant of loan denial or acceptance. Manages a clean pipeline of loans in process coordinating with Processors, Underwriters, and Closers on a daily basis. Keeps Bank associates up to date on changes in the industry and works as a team member with the other lines of business. Keeps all compliance requirements up to date and maintains a working knowledge of the products and services provided by the other lines of business and Bank affiliates.
