The **Loan Processor** position will report to the **Credit Operations Manager** .
As the **Loan Processor** , you will:
+ Review documents from clients (paystubs, tax returns, ID, etc).
+ Confirm client identity using trusted data sources.
+ Enter key information to help with application decisions.
+ Contact clients by phone or email to answer questions and give updates.
+ Help with special projects and prepare documents for audits.

Responsibilities:
Service
Deliver service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with the credit union's Service Promises.
Meets all established sales and service goals.
Possess adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge certification assessment
Screening Application
Confirm borrower's credit union membership or eligibility for membership
Match loan type to application purpose, amount requested, and collateral
Determine completeness and accuracy of application information
Update information in the core data processing system, enter application data in ELA (Enhanced Loan Application)
Request and obtain credit bureau report
Recommend approval/denial based on credit report and applicant's qualifications
Ascertain value of collateral; obtain payoff, purchase order, paystubs and proof of vehicle insurance
Booking and Packaging of Loans
Clear all final loan disbursement conditions set by Loan Officer, and examine for accuracy all information printing on loan documents and carrying over to Symitar.
Create loan documents; forward to member via Doc-U-Sign
Confirm disbursement of all funds, disburse proceeds
Review/correct cover letters; verify repayment method, and, if applicable, correct cycling date, and set up payroll distribution or order coupon book
Assemble and convey to member loan documents and any supplemental documents
Prepare scanning package and document items to be tracked
Member Service (Walk-In, Telephone, Fax, Mail, Internet)
Answer telephone inquiries in a courteous, professional manner
Guide members through the loan application process
Promotes and cross-sells various credit union products and services
Explain loan denials, approvals, and closing procedures
Perform loan payment transfers and/or share-to-share transfer requests
Analyze account problems; formulate solution; implement basic level account corrections
Auditing Branch Loans
Inspect loan setup in Symitar: repayment method, term, payment, cycling date
Proofread loan documents for accuracy and compliance and organize scan package
Tracking Post-Booking Items
Title Tracking: receive and catalog titles for every loan secured with a vehicle title; pursue missing/lost titles; add credit union's lien to titles
Paid-Out Account: release titles securing all paid off loans; close payment transfer accounts; send appropriate payoff documents to be scanned
Scanning: identify new loans to be scanned, verify completeness of scanning package, scan and index package; add additional pages of information to already scanned packages.
Handle/track all insurance policies, make account adjustments, follow-up calls
Other Duties
Obtain, analyze and distribute departmental mail.
Respond to any member inquires as required.
Manage back office e-mails
File loan files as needed
Review and process Billing Notices

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Previous experience with a financial institution preferred
Average typing skills (30 wpm min.)

ABOUT COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Summary of Position:

Key Responsibilities:

The Loan Closer/Processor guides congregations and other ELCA ministries through the process of closing, providing coaching for borrowers and timely, accurate due diligence to facilitate a successful closing while ensuring completion of all duties in compliance with MIF's loan policy and procedures.
This is a full-time, regular, exempt (salaried), Chicago-based hybrid position. This position has responsibilities that will require being in the office on a weekly basis. This could mean 2-3 days most weeks and possibly more days when meetings and other events are happening that this position supports.
The eligibility of a candidate for remote or hybrid positions may depend on the residency of the candidate, and the budget for the role, including salary or pay, insurance coverage, and/or tax burden. Candidates for this position must reside within the fifty United States or the District of Columbia and be authorized to work lawfully in the United States. 1. Order or prepare loan documents according to the credit approval, internal policies and procedures as well as various regulations upon loan approval. Review loan documents prior to being executed, review executed documents prior to funding, verify all outstanding conditions have been met, and fund loans according to deadlines. Verify completeness of files with all necessary documents and required signatures.
2. Serve as the point of contact for ministries, title officers, escrow officers and attorneys. Work with lending staff to resolve discrepancies in collateral documentation. Perform review of commercial loan and collateral documents and loan packages to ensure MIF's security interest and adherence to established policies and procedures.
3. Send documents to ministries for signatures. Work with ministries to ensure all proper documentation is obtained to complete the loan process. Follow up with borrowers, attorneys and title companies regarding collection of executed documents.
4. Review all closing documents to ensure they are properly executed, recorded and received. Send executed documents to title companies for recording.
5. Prepare modifications/buydown legal documents for recording and follow-up on returned legal documents before and after recording.
6. Follow up with any outstanding conditions and audit all funded files prior to submitting to the file room. Scan all necessary information and documents as outlined in the loan department procedures.
7. Serve as a primary point of contact with borrowers and build lasting relationships. Achieve and maintain general knowledge of other aspects of MIF which may include providing customer service and selling MIF products and services as needed.
8. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial or residential loan processing
Basic knowledge of lending processes and procedures, loan documentation, exceptions, collateral review, payment and loan systems. Knowledge of banking processes.
Must have good organizational and customer service skills. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Must possess numeric and verbal aptitudes.
