The Mortgage Servicing Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day servicing activities of mortgage loans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role supports the full lifecycle of mortgage servicing, including payment processing, escrow administration, investor reporting, and resolution of borrower inquiries. The specialist will work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.
Position Responsibilities
L Administration
Process and reconcile mortgage payments, payoffs, and adjustments accurately and timely.
Manage escrow accounts, including tax and insurance disbursements, annual analysis, and shortage/overage handling.
Monitor delinquent accounts and assist with collections or loss mitigation processes as needed.
Customer Service
Respond to borrower inquiries regarding loan terms, payment history, escrow accounts, and payoff requests.
Provide clear, professional communication to resolve issues promptly and maintain positive customer relationships.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure adherence toan Servicing & federal, state, and investor guidelines (e.g., RESPA, CFPB, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac requirements).

Maintain detailed records and documentation for audits and quality control reviews.

Operational Support

Assist with system updates, testing, and implementation of new servicing technologies or workflows.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree+ in Business Studies, Finance, or Business Administration, or related field.
3+ years of mortgage servicing or loan operations experience required.
Familiarity with mortgage regulations and investor guidelines.
Proven experience with payment processing, loan boarding, account maintenance, and customer service.
High aptitude for problem solving.

Prince George's Community Federal Credit Union is seeking an experience professional with experience processing home equity loan applications to serve as our Home Equity Loan Specialist. This role provides members with information on credit union Home Equity products and services; receives, processes, and closes all Home Equity loan applications in a timely manner; and services the existing Home Equity loan accounts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handles all Home Equity Fixed and Lines of Credit requests made by phone, in person, etc., and completes the application process for underwriting
Coordinates and prepares pre-closing and closing documentation; performs all system file maintenance and disburses funds; and scans all loan documentations
Prepares all closing documents, HUDI sheet, and Deeds of Trust; completes the MD intake sheet; orders flood certifications; calculates all recordation and transfer taxes for each county and each dollar amount issued
Closes home equity loans with the member(s)
Handles all subordination requirements & agreements & collects fees
Completes certificates of satisfaction for land records/Clerk of Court
Orders and reviews title report prior to closing to ensure there are no liens, judgments, etc.

Ensures all necessary title and Deed of Trust documents are completed and recorded properly within regulatory timeframe

Handles loan payoffs; reviews loan payoff reports, weekly or bi-weekly, and conduct follow-up calls to members to initiate car/HELOC refinances
Maintains loan documentation in members file, ensuring all policies and procedures of the Credit Union are followed; updates loan records as required; audits files to insure that all required documents are present and accounted for; and assists with filing and portfolio review
Provides back office loan support, such as filing, etc.
When necessary, Operates as back-up Loan Servicing Specialist on an as needed basis; including filing of Gap claims, life and/or disability claims, Debt protection, State National CPI, and death accounts
Maintains a high level of knowledge and procedural expertise in all Credit Union loan products and services
Assist in underwriting duties for non-home equity loans when needed
Perform other lending and administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Lending Officer

General Summary
The Mortgage Loan Processing team plays a critical role in supporting the mortgage lending process by ensuring loan files are complete, accurate, and ready for underwriting and closing. The Loan Processor - Level 2 is an experienced mortgage professional responsible for managing more complex loan files and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and investor requirements. This role goes beyond foundational processing tasks by handling multiple loan types, resolving escalated issues, and serving as a resource for Level 1 processors. Level 2 processors demonstrate advanced knowledge of mortgage programs, underwriting guidelines, and operational workflows, contributing to process improvements and exceptional customer experiences.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Independently manages a pipeline of conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
Processes other complex loan types with Mortgage Processing Manager support as needed.
Reviews and validates borrower documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with program requirements.
Identifies and resolves discrepancies or issues prior to underwriting submission.
Serves as the primary point of contact for escalated borrower or partner inquiries.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex documentation or compliance challenges.
Acts as a resource for Level 1 processors, providing guidance and support on procedures and best practices.
Assists in onboarding and training new processing team members.
Conducts thorough pre-underwriting audits to ensure files meet investor and regulatory standards.
Partners with internal compliance teams to address audit findings and implements corrective actions.
Delivers proactive updates to borrowers and referral partners, ensuring transparency and timely progress.
Maintains strong relationships with Loan Originators, Underwriters, Closers, and third-party vendors.
Identifies opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency within the processing function.
Participates in departmental projects and initiatives aimed at improving operational performance.
Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.
Supports and participates in community activities and initiatives.
Other duties necessary to meet business objectives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school diploma required; associate degree in business or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of mortgage processing experience, including exposure to multiple loan programs.
Advanced understanding of mortgage regulations, investor guidelines, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to resolve complex issues.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as in Encompass and other mortgage technology platforms.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving technological environment.

This position is classified as full-time and the benefits package includes health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance. Employees may select from coverage options which range from employee only to family coverage. Full-time employees receive either Paid Time Off (PTO) or separate paid vacation and paid illness leave accrual. This is in addition to a paid holiday schedule, paid bereavement, and paid parental leave. Benefits also include company paid life insurance and paid long-term disability coverage.
