Our client, a leading independent investment management firm, is seeking an experienced Bank Loan Analyst for a 10+ month contract to hire position in Downers Grove, IL. This role is hybrid, in-office 4 days a week.
JOB PURPOSE
As a premier global investment organization, the Bank Loan Team offers a full product line of investment options to both institutional and retail investors. This opportunity with the Bank Loan Oversight and Administration Team will provide support to the portfolio management and investment team covering various reporting areas, trade support and settlement efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Responsible for the production of various scheduled reporting deliverables for internal clients, including, but not limited, to the investment team, reporting team members, legal & compliance.
Ability to work as part of a team to ensure the group provides top-tier service to both internal and external clients and service providers.
Work in support of the trader to ensure that all trading activity is being efficiently and accurately entered in a timely manner in support of ISSMs products.
Collectively work with the trade closing team to assist in the coordination and facilitation of settlement efforts. Liaise with traders, trade counter parties and agent banks.
Support the team to ensure and maintain the data quality and integrity of the critical information that supports the business. Complete data mining, from a variety of internal & external sources, and analysis for Bank Loan clients.
WORK EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE
2+ years work experience preferred
Familiarity and experience with bonds and bond settlements is desired
A solid understanding of the security/loan market (LMA) and fund operations is desired
Experience in a reporting / product oversight role is plus
Experience in the investment management space is a plus
SKILLS / OTHER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
Aptitude for detail and a strong commitment to accuracy
Excellent quantitative and qualitative analysis skills

Confirming loan approval authority as defined by bank policy; review and obtain an understanding of the loan transaction from the Loan Profile.
Determining that initial underwriting documentation is present according to the approval document.
Reviewing credit files and determining additional documentation needs to support underwriting requirements, such as entity papers, credit reports, purchase contracts, lien searches, title work, appraisal or evaluation, environmental questionnaires, surveys, life insurance, and property liability insurance.
Ordering supporting documentation from approved vendors and working with loan officers or customers as needed.
Renewal loan processing includes entering the loan into loan software and working with the servicingloan officer to move the approved credit to close.
Communicating results of documentation review and any processing issues to the loan officer on a timely basis.
Balancing transactions and preparing all general ledger tickets and cashier's checks for disbursement.
Preparing wire forms, wire tickets, and authorizing wires for loan proceeds.
Processing loan files post-closing, including preparation and delivery of instruction letter and the closing packet to the title company if needed.
Assisting with additional loan operation roles, as requested or necessary.

Role Summary
The Residential Whole Loan - Analyst/Associate will be a key contributor to the execution of our residential mortgage investment strategy spanning over $1.5 billion in whole loan residential mortgages. In this role, the Associate will support market analysis, loan stratification and data-driven pricing, underwriting support, and portfolio monitoring and reporting. The role requires strong technical skills to enhance data processing, automation, and analytics within the investment process. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, adaptable to evolving capital markets, and comfortable integrating technology into financial analysis. Additionally, this role will also support ongoing business development efforts, including analyzing new origination channels and conducting due diligence. The Associate will cross train and develop other members of the team, ensuring proper depth of talent and resources within the capital markets function.
The Associate will have experience in the residential mortgage and/or RMBS structured finance markets including, but not limited to: asset-level contract finance, due diligence (asset valuation, credit and compliance), collateral analysis, risk mitigation, product development, regulation compliance, and vendor/client management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the residential mortgage team on transactions and asset management of the residential mortgage investment portfolio
* Perform deep sector specific research and analysis, identify relative value and potential trade opportunities, and communicate ideas across the team
* Keep portfolio managers updated on key developments in mortgage related sectors, and contribute to the team's strategic outlook in both whole loan and securitized markets
